Rasmussen polled Meg Whitman against 3 possible democratic candidates- former governor Jerry Brown, Gavin Newsom and Anthony Villaraigosa.
The results were-
Whitman 38%- Brown 40%

Whitman 37%- Newsom 34%
 
Whitman 41%- Villaraigosa 34%

Whitman leads amongst unaffiliated voters in all 3 scenarios and receive more than 70% of republicans in all of the scenarios.
Brown earns the backing of 67% of Democrats, more than Newsom and Villaraigosa with 57% and 56% of democrats, respectively.
Whitman favorability rating is +21, Brown's +8, Newsom -5 and Villaraigosa -4. Whitman is also the least known candidate as only 65% of voters have an opinion of her so she could grow in numbers in the next 2 years.
