Lets say that somehow a pro-war Democrat like Lieberman got the Democratic nomination, and somehow a Ron Paul or Jim Duncan or John Hostetler type anti-war Republican somehow got the Republican nomination for pres.  I'm wondering how Republicans, or for that matter everybody else would respond to this scenario. In listening to the Salem radio network quite a lot when I do my pizza deliveries, I get the impresion that alot of the pro-war, pro-Bush people put such a high priority on that issue that they'd support  a Lieberman over a Paul if they had to make a choice.
The South Carolina senate race of 08 had a little bit of this cross partisan phenomena when anti-war conservative Joe Conley won the Democrat nomination and ran as a social conservative to Lindsay Grahams right in the general election, but most conservatives voted for Graham and most liberals still voted for Conley.

I'd still vote for Lieberman.  The war issue isn't everything and Ron Paul's scary.

Lieberman is definitely no liberal. He sucks on plenty of issues other than the war.

I'd probably refuse to vote for either the horrible right-wing Democrat or the Ron Paul type.

I know that.  He'd still have my vote over Paul, Hagel, or Hostettler though.  Now if it were Linc Chafee, then I'd vote for him over Lieberman.

Chafee isn't a conservative.

I'd vote for Ron Paul over Lieberman, though that should be obvious.

I'd certainly vote for Lieberman, and I'd also vote for someone like Hagel.
