I vote for Jefferson, Blago and Stevens. Young will be indicted but not convicted by then.

Only Blago. Stevens will likely get off because of his age, Jefferson will be sentenced to jail eventually, though not before the 2010 elections, and Young will be indicted and perhaps convicted, though not yet in jail.

Only Blago. Stevens will likely get off because of his age

Age is completely irrelevent in US law.

all 4, but they should serve time in real pound-you-in-the-ass jail and fancy executive jails should not exist

Jefferson and Blago. Stevens will probably be pardoned.

in principle, yes, but a court might grant him clemency on that basis, or more likely for "health" reasons.

Not much time left for that. Think Bush will do it today?

It wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Jefferson is the only black on this list, so statistically he's by far the most likely to actually serve jail time.

Whoever goes TO jail will be OUT of jail by Nov. 2010.  With the possible exception of of Blago.

You don't expect these folks to do actual, serious time, do you?

depends what you mean - if convicted, they will go to minimum security facilities.  which somewhat resemble college dormitories, but of course, without the ability to leave.

Older folks are more likely to die.  Dead people don't end up in jail.

Nevertheless, I said Jefferson and Stevens (if he lives that long).  I don't think Blago's case is far enough along (including appeals) for him to do jail time by November 2010.  And Young hasn't even been indicted yet - so the same thing.

Barack H. Obama. The Chicago way doesn't allow for clean politics.
