I think that we probably keep the seat, in the end.

And Tedisco has around 400. I think Tedisco will probably get close to 70% of the vote in the special election.  Is this going to be a good narrative for Democrats going into 2010?

Was that meant to be serious?

Yes it was.  I think Tedisco will probably win this race with around 67% of the vote.

I live in NY-20. Tedisco will probably win if turnout is low but there is no way in hell that that is going to happen.

For a special election?  Turnout will be low - very low.  It always is.

I know that. I'm saying that there is no way that Tedisco will get 67% of the vote.

Obama's not THAT popular for the electorate that will turn out late March, which will be strongly Republican.  Besides, Obama can't afford to look so petty.  Gillibrand is the one that needs to cut 1-2 ads that run a lot, praising Murphy's stances on guns and government transparency and whatever those rednecks care about Smiley

This area isn't as hillbilly as you think (well, a select areas are) and Obama is widely loved here at the moment, even by many Republicans. And there is nothing petty about helping out the party. We need to stop with the bipartisan bull crap which is clearly proving itself to be ineffective and maintain our hold on important seats like this.

Well, that's my two cents anyway.

I was joking, you rednecks upstate aren't that bad.  Hell, I bet y'all can read if the words are small.

Anyway, Obama's not going to get really involved (see Georgia run-off), maybe a radio ad.  The Democrats' big X factor is whether Gillibrand will cut a TV ad.

Reminder that I'm from The Bronx originally. Don't lump me in with any hillbillies. Wink

And sure, Obama won't get involved but he should imo.

As someone who lives in the district (during part of the week anyway), I can say that almost nobody is talking about this race yet. That probably isn't a great sign for Murphy.

You wanted excitement, here's, well, a poll. From Siena College:

Jim Tedisco (R) - 46
Scott Murphy (D) - 34

Tedisco's favorables are 47/20, Murphy's are 29/10.

See, here's the problem.

Nobody knows who the fu ck Murphy is. If he doesn't change that, game over.

If Tedisco wins, Paterson can probably kiss my primary vote goodbye, that is if he even runs.

Yes, I live in the district for part of the week and I vote in the district and I do not want a Republican representing me in Congress again. Period.

Secondly, I didn't say that I would vote against Paterson. I may not vote at all because I don't like his likely opponent either.

Thirdly, this situation is only one of the many reasons that I'm angry with Paterson... one of the other major reasons being his drastic budget cuts that are going to greatly damage the SUNY school system among other things.

These things impact me personally. I have a stake in this fight. The situation in Arizona is interesting but it doesn't have any actual impact on me whatsoever. I hope that helps to clear things up.

There are usually some third-party nutters on the ballot. Vote for one of them instead.

Perhaps, Al. Perhaps.

I saw a Tedisco ad today. It wasn't bad either. That's the first ad that I've seen so far from either of them (on televsion).

No, that wasn't it. It dealt with how he had worked as a specal education teacher before getting involved in politics and such. It was more of a personal ad.

There are a lot of ads on the air from both sides now. You can sort of sense that the momentum might be changing just a wee bit.

Remember when somebody came on here and said that Tedisco was going to win with about 67% of the vote? Too funny.
