It's kind of similar to Louisiana with a French south.

It also reminds me of Maryland in that sense--in that Maryland is sort of a mix of North and South, while Belgium is a mix of French and Dutch. Not to mention the government presence.

The correct answer, of course, would be Canada... if Canada were a state of the U.S. As is, probably Lousiana.

Did you actually vote in the poll?

Anyway, I'm afraid I don't see the Vermont connection terribly well. So, Vermont has a few French people along the border? And that makes it like Belgium? Eh.
