Italian law prohibits the publication of opinion polls 15 days before election day. I believe Greece has a similar law (easily broken by publishing them in Cypriot media, of course).

So, what's your opinion of these laws imposing a ban on polling so long before the actual election?

I think it's an attempt to say that they don't, or at least shouldn't, matter at that time. It allows people to "more fairly" judge the candidates instead of simply going with the crowd/with the winner.

     I guess it's just annoying from the perspective of a political junkie. After all, knowing who would win three months out is useless. Knowing what would happen a week out is more interesting. Especially if it's a real nail-biter. Smiley

I think it's annoying, too, but it's also just flat out wrong.
