This is quite a fun idea. Smiley Here is my preferences:

1. Phil (Phil is a politician. He has the mind to be an outstanding public servant and the fighting spirit. He will go far in politics I wager. Phil should be the leader. no doubt)

2. FezzyFestoon (He is also a very bright guy who has a nose for politics. Fezzy should be whip as he needs a position of "power".)

3. Inks (Inks seems to me like a political writer. Perhaps one day he will be editor of The Weekly Standard!)

4. Duke (Always a colorful one. Duke would be the best "attack dog" for a national ticket or to be a party chairman.)

4. Phil

I like these guys and I don't think many people want me to be the leader. Tongue

Of course that is right, you should be a Democrat after all.

Excuse me, Mr. Officepark! My first order of business, if I am elected to the distinguished office of chairmen of the forum Republicans, is to allow Republicans of all persuasions to join, from populists like yourself to economic conservatives like myself and fezzy.

Excuse me, Mr. Duke, but I am no populist, and I am more economically conservative than you, and probably more than fezzy as well.

Fezzy is more of a moderate liberal (ie socially liberal/economically centrist) these days by his own admission.

Soult would make a good chairman, Duke would make an amusing whip.

Finally a sensible choice, ironically by one of the most Republican Dems here, Tongue

The results of the leadership ballot were:

Torie 3 (Bullmoose, Nixon in '80, Josh22 - I remembered that Josh said the other day he's not changed back to being a Republican, but I included his ballot pending a challenge if it cost someone the leadership)
Phil 5 (NiK, PBrunsl, Rin Chan, NC Yankee, Inks)
Jmfcst 0
Inks 1 (Officepark)
Duke 1 (Fezzy)
Fezzy 0

Distributing preferences from Inks and Duke, the results were:

Torie 4 (Bullmoose, Nixon in '80, Josh, Fezzy)
Phil 6 (NiK, PBrunsl, Rin Chan, NC Yankee, Inks)

Phil has therefore been elected Leader of the Forum Republicans.

Now that we've elected a leader, we should probably re-open the ballot for Whip, in case any leadership candidates wish to renominate.

Nominations received thus far are:

Smid
Phil (excluded, having been elected Leader)
Jmfcst
Inks

I thank my friends for this honor. This is a united party while the Democrats are, like usual, in disarray.

THe number of posters in here who want Phil to whip them has me more than a little concerned.

Democrats nominating BRTD and Opebo seem to be joking, but these guys are actually serious..

Ehh.. it's just because Republicans are authoritarian and they love nothing more than a good old fashioned hierarchy.

Yup this is why the republican caucus has been such a success while the democrats just don't care.

LOL.  Yup, I am a Republican due to my irresistible impulse to be authoritarian.

By the way, congrats Phil on your victory.

We need a good whip that can whip the Democrats in a good war of words and wits. I nominate myself to be the whipper. I can balance out the leadership with more moderate viewpoints to Phil's conservative viewpoints. I also enjoy long walks on the beach, golf, money, good food, and Charleston in the summer.

It'd be hard for you to be whip once you are primaried by the Forum Club for Growth.
