I'm not going to be awake at that time so I'm opening this thread early. But DO NOT VOTE UNTIL 9:30 AM PST ON SUNDAY, MARCH 15TH, 2009.

This election will end after either five days or whenever one candidate receives a majority of votes. Whichever comes first. The candidates are:

Sen. DWTL
Sen. HappyWarrior

DO NOT VOTE UNTIL 9:30 AM PST ON SUNDAY, MARCH 15TH, 2009.

Not sure how that could have been clearer. Maybe the PST throws people off? You should have used forum time or EST maybe.

Ugh, my bad I'll vote again at 12:30.  Just use to EST being the standard and didn't bother to read throughly Tongue

The leader of the Senate. He opens & closes all votes & manages the queue of legislation. This includes being able to remove frivolous ones as well as being able to bring them to the floor early as emergency legislation.

President pro tempore of the senate?

Yes. We don't have Senate majority or minority leaders here, so the PPT organizes all Senate functions.

If the vote happens to be tied...I assume that means we have to wait the full 5 days....because nobody has reached a clear majority as required by the Senate rules?

I would assume so, all indications point to a 5-5 tie at this point

Its not definite but I am counting on it.  After speaking with everyone, with the exception of Jedi, the number I expect was a 6-4 victory, so now it is 5-5.

Past precedent holds that, once all Senators have cast their votes, the vote closes twenty-four hours following, with Senators allowed to change their votes at any time during those twenty-four hours. (This twenty-four hours is typically counted from the tally made by the PPT or Senate President rather than the final vote.) At the end of that twenty-four hours, the Senate President would cast his vote following either his own announcement of the close of voting or that of the PPT.

After giving the matter much more consideration than it probably deserves, I have made my decision. It doesn't matter that much to me who is PPT as long as they do their job. I would rather move on from this matter and not dally with it any further, as so we might actually vote on things that effect Atlasia. As such, I have decided to cast my vote for HappyWarrior.

I am sorry, DWTL. This is not personal. I did not want to go back on you. However, the truth is that with the vote as it is now, who I vote for will probably not effect the outcome; you lost as soon as MasterJedi did not vote for you. The only difference is that it is over with sooner rather than later.

Now please, let's be done with this.

Final Vote Count

HappyWarrior: 6 (Franzl, HappyWarrior, MasterJedi, Bacon King, Lief, Realisticidealist)
DWTL: 3 (DWTL, PiT, SPC)
Yet to vote: 1 (Smid)

HappyWarrior has received a majority of votes. In accordance with the rules outlines in the OSPR, he is elected President Pro Tempore.
