Ugh.  St. Patrick's Day makes me so angry as an Italian, and every other heritage I am.  Irish people are too damn proud this time of year.

I know the lady that owns the Guinness themed pub across the street from where I work... and tomorrow is her make it or break it day for the winter/spring.

I will proudly be a patron of her pub.  The food is amazing and the drinks are great, of course.

It's a fun excuse to go out with friends and have a good time.  You don't have to spurn it because some retards get out of hand.

HAPPY DRINKING DAY!

Just a few more months to 21 there Phil.  This will be your last one you have to miss.  Sorry to hear that.  Once it comes head up to Michaels on Street Rd.  You may never have to pay for drinks!

You really think that I'm going to take part in these festivities?  Tongue

Sadly, Irish culture has been largely boiled down to a souvenir standard.

Well I do have Republican and Italian friends taking part.  I wouldn't assume that.

...

I have no idea what Republicans have to do with anything...

But, yeah, of course Italians take part. I'm just saying that you know how I am so don't think that I'll make exceptions for a holiday I don't even care about.  Wink

And yet you take the effort to don one of the Irish colors for your avatar anyway.

My uniform commercial code professor in law school would wear an orange tie on St. Patrick's day. He was one of the three Republicans on the faculty at the time. The other two were gay, one of whom died of AIDS unfortunately early on in the epidemic, and the other of whom was a black Lesbian (ya, I know a gay is just the male but whatever).

And there you have it. Smiley

I don't actually know if BRTD gets why his "protest" is unintentionally hilarious.  I really don't.

Eh, not really. Your major issue is the religious aspect. That's clearly not my issue.

Ya, and Lee Bollinger (of affirmative action lawsuit fame when he was prez of the U of M, and later Akmenajab (sp) fame when he excoriated the Iranian clown at the U of Columbia) was my first year contracts professor  right out of clerking for Justice Burger, with long blond hair who liked to surf. He grew up in California. Back then, he was a bleeding heart, and I wasn't. I wanted to enforce a lot more contracts then he did. Tongue

BRTD's next poll: Was the Chinese Government's banning of the Beijing St. Patrick's Day parade an act of heroism?
