This thread is for the discussion of ideas relating to the Unitarian Empire proposal for the new government.

Basic Characteristics
Centralized national government, headed by an infrequently elected (once yearly?) emperor, with greater involvement in regional affairs
Basic regional structures (governors, legislatures, etc.) would remain, but a strong figurehead would lead most aspects of the federal level
Involvement of regions in federal decisions, such as regional votes on Emperor's agenda, requiring general consensus by a majority of regions

Discussion shall last no less than 48 hours and no more than 240 hours (10 days) unless there is continued and productive discussion.

At the conclusion of debate there will be a vote in a separate thread to choose which models of government shall be pursued by the Convention. Please visit the other Government Proposal Discussion threads and comment on those as well.

Let's make the Bonaparte family our Emperors for life. Vive l'Empire! Vive l'Empereur!

Too centralised. Would lower the participation with the time, I think.

Yes. We need elections fairly often to keep intensity up. I wouldn't show up if the President will not be chosen for another year.

True, I personally just thought that it might be a fun idea... perhaps if the "Emperor" was voted in twice a year? I feel like it is important to make elections more important by not have them so frequently, there should be some buildup and importance attached to an election. Also this proposal would not effect how often regions have their elections.

This is a weird idea.

However, I think you all know who would be the candidate with the most experience at this kind of thing.
