Say Cheney decided not to opt out of running for president. What would the map have looked like, counting all the stuff that happened in the actual election (i.e. Market crash, questionable VP choice) happened in this one?

It would be ugly. I haven't seen approval ratings for him, but I'm sure they were worse than Bush, and probably even Congress. I would never support him, and I'm about as conservative as it gets. He'd win Republican thresh holds, but that is about it...

Cheney knows he's going down, so he makes history by picking the first black woman as the Vice Presidential nominee for either of the major parties, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

This is the biggest blowout ever in terms of the popular vote, and in terms of the electoral vote it is the largest lanslide since 1984.  Dick Cheney is so unpopular that I believe that Mike Gravel could have given him a run for his money:)

Just because Obama would get 65% nationwide, and even Oklahoma could vote democrat with a similar margin.
