I have read a book that was released recently entitled The Kennedy Tapes: Inside the White House During the Cuban Missile Crisis
by Ernest R. May, Philip D. Zelikow

This book contained the acctual transcripts of the tapes.  What struck me about the book was that it was Kennedy, not the generals, who was determined to make a fist strike against Cuba if the Soviets did not comply.  Not only would this have been a "pre-emptive" action, but it flys totally in the face of what we have been lead to believe by the Libs all these years about Kennedy.
