Fellow Republicans, read the comments below the article.  Read them all the way through.  Even if you are on the right, I think you will find much of these attitudes very disturbing.

Hypothetical here, let's say this guy wins the primary(about a 10% chance of that), whats the over/under on his share of the Hispanic vote in the general, 5%?

I suspect that about 25% of Hispanic voters don't like illegals much. That does not however mean that even much of that 25% would vote for a candidate who is not only fixated on illegals, but is also a certifiable nutter.

He has my endorsement simply because I want McCain gone, period, and don't care one iota who replaces him. McCain needs to be punished for his disgusting 2008 campaign.

You'll support McCain when you get on the computer and actually read about his challenger. Tongue

African-Americans "don't deserve the benefits they receive under the Constitution because they've never suffered discrimination."

Simcox quote according to his ex-wife.

No, he isn't. I'm states rights, but I can't stand him.

He isn't known for being states rights, anyway.

I always thought Jeff would have better taste than to move to New Jersey.

What do you mean when I get on the computer?

If this guy is such a nut all the more reason-free Senate seat.

McCain attacked a true American hero, Bill Ayers. And he also picked the single worst VP candidate in history. He also did nothing about the vast numbers of racists in his campaign. McCain is an enemy of the Republic, and an enemy of the People.

Also as crazy as this Simcox guy is I'm sure he's at least not a war criminal.

Bill Ayers, a true American hero? LOL. Are you still celebrating 420? Lay off the wacky weed dude. Ayers definitely didn't pass the smell test and while it was appropriate to question Obama's associations with this man, they did make a mountain out of a molehill with it.

That being said, the independent in me feels the need to defend the maverick McCain. As a die-hard Hillary supporter, I was tempted to support McCain after the primaries until he picked Russia's neighboring beauty queen for his VP. It wasn't the language used by McCain at his rallies that set me off as it was Palin's divisive and downright pathetic fear mongering to the base (i.e. "palling around with terrorists," "the real America/pro-American parts of the country"). McCain himself ran a clean and worthy campaign. He didn't invoke the Jeremiah Wright stuff like the 527s did, and if you recall at a town hall meeting in your own state when that crazy woman stood up and said that Obama was an Arab, McCain corrected her. I never once heard McCain call Obama a terrorist, a Muslim, or the "n" word. In the end I voted for Obama simply because of the issues on which I strongly disagree with McCain and I couldn't fathom a President Palin, a woman who doesn't even know that Africa is a continent and who claims that dinosaurs roamed the earth 4,000 years ago (oh, and of course, who claims that Alaska's proximity to Russia qualifies as foreign policy experience). It also irked me how she was taking credit for a movement that Hillary started in her own campaign (cracking that highest, hardest glass ceiling) and I didn't want to see that happen.

Also, who are these racists on his campaign? Didn't one of his top campaign advisers just come out in support of gay marriage along with his daughter Meghan?

For what it's worth, McCain should be commended for his clean campaign that he ran in the most anti-Republican year since I don't even know when. In the end, it just came down to the fact that Americans didn't want a third Bush term, and change defeated experience as we saw in both the primaries (unfortunately) and general election. McCain, though, is far an enemy of the public. He has served his country in times of turmoil and conflict and has the scars to show for it. You can disagree with where McCain stands on the issues but don't call into question his credibility as a person and patriotism. He is the true American hero, not Bill Ayers.

Yay, let's have an even smaller minority! Why do people insist on losing senate seats just to prove a point?
