The poll was a hit job.

You know that basically every poll shows that Massachusetts residents say Patrick sucks, right?

The last two Surveyusa polls had him at 28% and 27% respectively.

This poll has George W. Bush's implied approval rating at 31%. I doubt his approval is higher in Massachusetts than it is nationwide.

Also, this question wouldn't sway voters at all, I wouldn't think: "Are You Afraid MA Is Returning to Former Nickname, "Tax-Achusetts"?"

I'm sure Patrick is polling badly, but this is an example of the kind of poll Rasmussen does to gin up business from Republican media outlets.

Patrick would absolutely destroy Mitt Romney if Mitt decided to run for office again in 2010. Surely it doesn't hurt Mitt that the economy was much stronger in the mid 2000s.

Patrick has been a disappointment, although he has also been a big victim of the economic recession (like many other governors as well). He has been way too eager to raise taxes and tolls to stem the state's deficit.

Just look at the questions he is asking when he polls.  "Taxachussetts", come on.

I want to see the link to the question where he uses the word "Taxachusetts" in a question, before question 5.

Read what it says in the fourth to last paragraph.

If a poll is a SRS and the results are actually calculated, it's unlikely to be a push poll..

It was the fifth question in the poll so it didn't have any effect on the answers to the other questions.

It is not a push poll according to the definition of a push poll. It's certainly a slanted poll with a goal other than identifying objective truth. That said, I don't think the general sense that Patrick is polling badly is wrong.

Like I said before, was it mentioned before Question 5?

Question 5 was after the Romney question.

1. This poll about Romney being preferred to Patrick as Governor is probably correct, though the margin is open to question. Weighting MA polls is hard because of the meaninglessness of party registration, and very fluid party identification(ie. the make up of Independents ideologically changes year to year)

2. This says far more about Patrick than it does about Romney. Write me and my family down as four voters who would prefer Romney over Patrick, but would vote for a whole list of people from either party before holding our nose for either of them. I think suffolk's poll from a few months ago on his favorable was pretty damning, showing him still in the 30s. That said, Suffolk tends to lean left a bit in MA.
