Imagine you are on 12/31/2099 and you're writting a book about America in the 21st century.
How will the 2010s decade be viewed in the future ?

Well, it's kinda hard to prognosticate without knowing how the rest of the century plays out

The 2010s will probably be remembered most for advancements in cloud computing and wireless networking, the emergence of China as a global power, and big advancements for LGBT causes in the West.

Things we consider notable about the decade today (i.e., Brexit, migrant crises, the rise of neo-populism, climate change, etc.) may not have salience in a future where those issues have been largely resolved.

One thing that did happen in the 2010s that I think may represent an important global sea change moving forward - Edward Snowden and WikiLeaks.  Growing awareness of mass surveillance is a political issue that is going to continue to play out as long as personal metadata continues to get richer and richer.

Probably very horrible, even worse than the 80s.

A postmodern echo of the 1970s.
