Other: Paul Henry

He represents a direction I wish more Christians in politics had taken.  If he hadn't smoked like a chimney, he might still be alive today and in a position of Republican leadership in the House.  His father was Carl Henry, the great evangelical thinker and editor of Christianity Today who argued that overbearing emphasis on personal evangelism represented an incomplete disciplieship- that Christians must be aware of and engaged in improving society around them.

If I'm not mistaken, Paul Henry was also at the Chicago Declaration of Evangelicals for Social Conscience, which began Evangelicals for Social Action.

Is today topsy-turvy day, JSojo?  I voted for two Republicans...

I still read Carl Henry's commentaries.  I had completely forgotten about Paul.  Did he ever hold elective or appointed office?  Regardless, he definitely deserves a mention!

A great man.  And if we were discussing First Ladies, I would have to recognize his dear wife.  Betty Ford has saved countless lives with her courageous example and philanthropy.

Thaddeus McCotter, Vern Ehlers, Dave Camp, Robert P. Griffin, Mike Rogers, Fred Upton, John Engler, Pete Hoekstra, Joe Knollenberg, and Guy Vander Jagt are all great guys. I voted for George Romney, and I think I am the only one who is actually voting for him cause of who he was and not his name.

You left off James M. Couzens(R) and Arthur Vandenburg(R)

Were they post 1965?  Even so, with some of the larger delegations, I am just running out of time and space.  When Texas and California come around, I am just going to let Forumites use the Other option if it's a House member.  Guess I will choose Other in Cali. for Henry Waxman.  ;-)
