Football: a little bit of an rural edge to it but still tons of fans in the cities
GOP - 53%
DEM - 45%

Baseball: baseball is always most popular in the city
DEM - 60%
GOP - 39%

Basketball: demographic shift
DEM - 80%
GOP - 20%

Hockey: dominated by Northern cities
DEM - 75%
GOP - 25%

Golf: lots of people play golf, GOP edge
DEM - 45%
GOP - 55%

EDIT: you know what, were talking about SPORTS fans here.  NASCAR is not a sport.

Hockey fans (of which I'm one--GO PENS!!), like the players, are overwhelmingly white compared to other sports. Plus the game expanded heavily outside the rust belt over a decade ago. Any Democratic lean is heavily overstated here.

And it's an expensive sport.  But also consider the "3M states of hockey"- Minnesota, Michigan, and Massachusetts are heavily Democratic.  I'd say about Democrat 62- GOP 38 with a stronger Dem lean in the farther Northern states and about even in the mid-Atlantic.  "Hockey parents" here have to be fairly well off.

True,  I wouldn't say its as Dem as some of the suggestions, but the 62-38 seems pretty accurate.  I think much of hockey's base tends to be middle to upper middle class liberals.

Ehh, liberal to libertarian I'd say the base is.  Another thing is in the NY/NJ/PA area to consider is a lot of the best hockey schools are Catholic prep schools, which other than the Jesuit based ones, are usually pretty conservative.  Like I said, it's about 50-50 give or take in the mid-Atlantic because of this.  Other than the Catholic preps, the best schools are usually the high tax base suburban public schools which tend to be more libertarian, if anything.  You don't see too many frozen ponds here in the winter cause our climate is narrowly in the Subtropical zone so the possiblity of seeing "District 5's" like in Mighty Ducks just won't happen here.  The poorer kids tend to go football, basketball, and soccer.

And when I played back in the 1990s, there was a lot of alumni and politician support to make us the cheapest program in the area.  I also skated with Mediocre CCM Black Tacks as opposed to tbe Bauer 5000's a lot of the preppy kids had..

I know that there's no real way to find out, but I want to see what people think. What percentage of different sports fans vote for the Republican\ Democrat in an even election?

My Predictions:
Football fans: Republican 55, Democrat 45
Basketball: Democrat 75, Republican 25
Baseball: 50-50
Hockey: Democrat 85, Republican 15
NASCAR Racing: Republican 90, Democrat 10
Golf: Republican 85, Democrat 15
Tennis: Not sure, but I'm guessing Democrat?

I can only comment on hockey as you can tell.

One thing is probably for certain in football and basketball.  Pro fans are definitely more Democratic while college fans are definitely more Republican.  I would think Pro football has a narrow Dem lean, while basketball has a strong Dem lean due to it's urban nature.  College football and basketball fans are definitely strong Republican outside of the West, Midwest, and Northeast/Mid-Atlantic and probably tossup/lean GOP in those regions.

Baseball is almost impossible to call.
