How about it if he wins?  He'll have a win in a blue state with a true message of change and cleaning up messes.  If he turns the state around I see him as a legitimate darkhorse candidate.

I was saying the same thing about Pat McCrory. You just may have doomed Christie, you know. Smiley

I don't see the far-fetchedness, this is a guy who is always itching to move to bigger and better things when he sees oppurtunities.  He's a staunch conservative but a not a flashy conservative who wears it on his sleeve and scares away moderates.

Unfortunately, politics is about cosmetics. Have you seen Christie lately?

Maybe in 2016 after a full term or two, but not in 2012.

I saw him around June 9th or 10th, whatever he came to Rutherford with Kathleen Donovan and I must say he waddled toward me to talk Tongue

I was going to post this as his huge negative, but he isn't like over the top ugly just rather plump.  He's kind of like a distant uncle you never met, he has a real nice guy demeanor about him

Well, Bush wasn't exactly the epitome of male beauty either.

Plus, Huckabee lost tons of weight(but is still rather large) and no one has complained about his cosmetics.

The analogy for Christie isn't Huckabee but Richardson, at least in a physical sense.

No governor is going to have a good shot at 2012 unless their state is in a better economic condition than the nation as a whole. I doubt Christie would be able to turn New Jersey around in a year or two.

He's not "still" rather large. He was thin during his Presidential run. In fact, he was so think that I thought he looked rather sickly. Now he has gained a lot of it back and I think people have complained about it from a cosmetics standpoint.

It's not about beauty though. I think people are a lot more hostile towards weight than they are about facial features. That's why Bush got more of a pass than someone who is overweight.

No, for several reasons.  First of all, he has to get elected.  Second of all, he actually has to prove himself an able governor in the midst of a recession.  Next, he's too fat.  He can't be going to Iowa to stick hot dogs in his mouth.  Due to the present ridiculous primary system, he'll have to start campaigning and raising money shortly after he enters office.  Lastly - and possibly most detrimental - is his absurd last name.  Will our enemies be scared of a President Christie?  Didn't think so.

NJ is a hopeless mess for both parties. The legislature no matter what people say will always have those from each party serving solely to enrich their bank account. Christie will get nothing done as Governor, just as the dozen governor's before him haven't.

Are we talking about 41 or 43?  W isn't a bad looking guy.  41, I suppose, was a bit awkward.

And that was well before the age of this guy...

I assume he was talking about 43 and I don't think he was bad looking either but I guess a lot of people really think he looks like a monkey.

He's probably one of the better candidates the GOP could turn to from a purely electoral perspective, though 2012 would likely be way too early.
