I don't think he "kicked Kerry's butt."

He definately did better than last time though, not that that's saying much.

If you think Bush won so badly then why is it that the poll on cnn's homepage says 82% think Kerry won the debate, the msnbc poll has Kerry with a huge lead, and cnn's own Carlos Watson said Kerry won tonight's debate.

Okay this is weird. But I think I saw Bush wink in the debate when Kerry was talking. I don't know who he was winking at or maybe he was just twitching.

What do you guys think about this?

Because the DNC told Democrats to spam the online polls.

Kerry won another debate.  Bush was bad but not quite as abysmal as in the first one.

His wife is in the audience.  He could have been winking in her direction.

(I did see the wink.)

He was winking.  I think it was a win for Bush, but not a decisive one.  Like Kerry in the first, Cheney in the second, it wasn't decisive; I didn't expect it to be.

What about a cnn reporter (Carlos Watson) stating right after the debate that Kerry had won.

I guess you didn't read the letter sent out by the DNC. I guess you would trust Zogby too.

I'm supposed to believe that 81% of America thought Kerry won the debate? Or even 70%? Give me a break, sarnstrom. The polls were spammed.

You can believe whatever you want. But the fact is John Kerry won tonight's debate, because Bush is still unwilling to admit his mistakes he has made as president.

And you're still unwilling to admit that there is no way 81% of Americans saw Kerry as the winner tonight. I'm going to say that most of the polls asking "who won the debate?" will show Bush as the winner.

I'll admit that 81% of Americans likely did not think that John Kerry won the debate tonight, but I bet you that more people will think Kerry won the debate then Bush.

So...why would you use the "81% thought Kerry won. 70% thought Kerry won on Fox New's site!" line? What was the point of that then?

Bush won, but this isn't decisive.  His numbers will go up, probably less than 5 points on average; this is a bounce, not a trend.

Copycatting Freedomburns and his title?   Come on now, try to be original.  Like most debates, partisans on both sides claim victory.  It won't be til next week to see if we have any movement.

Not suprisingly, I think Kerry won both on issues and on style.

The polls were spammed.

Bush clearly "won" insofar as he is more likeable and the issues were essentially a draw; Republicans will agree with Bush, Democrats will agree with Kerry, "undecideds" will break roughly even depending on their leanings.

The real question, of course, is: 'how does this affect the election?'

It definitely stops any Kerrymentum. It could either freeze the polls in a slighly-Bush situation, or rebound a few points towards Bush as Republican's regain some energy and some independents come back to Bush.
