This is my first time doing one of these things, so bear with me.

THE BATTLE OF THE FELINES, so to speak.

Set-up
Obama is reelected in 2012. He endures a mostly rocky second term after his reelection, Congress passes another stimulus bill, the economy slowly shows signs of recovery upon the 2016 presidential primaries. Sarah Palin reemerges from wherever it is she is going to successfully win the GOP nomination over Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, and Hillary takes another stab at the nomination and wins over John Edwards. Women everywhere are engaged as the historical battle is now brewing to see which one will be the first female to take the Oval Office.

Hillary selects her long-time friend and companion former Gov. Ted Strickland (D-Ohio) as her VP who was instrumental in her victories in Ohio, a crucial swing state, both in 2008 and 2016. This solidifies Hillary's base among working class white voters both in and out of Appalachia. Following the DNC, Sarah Palin announces that she has selected former Governor and now U.S. Senator Charlie Crist (R-Florida) as her vice presidential running mate. She does so in efforts to reach out to moderates and Independents and hopes to bring Florida with its 30+ electoral votes back into the GOP column after Obama improves upon his narrow margin in 2008 over John McCain.

So, who wins? Maps!

Why would Crist accept an offer to be running mate for Palin?

Well, let's see, he did endorse McCain early on. That's why this is a hypothetical election. I couldn't really think of another "moderate" from a big swing state (other than Tom Ridge from Pennsylvania but he's pro-choice so that automatically 86s him) to run on the ticket with Palin to help with independents. There's Tim Pawlenty but I don't think he could deliver Minnesota especially sharing a ticket with Palin.

Still, I cannot see Crist becoming Palin's running mate. For one thing, if he is elected to the senate, his seat will be up in 2016.

Anything's possible, but if so, it'd be style vs. substance.

Hillary wins over John Edwards?  The same guy who just recently had an affair with his wife and couldn't win the Democratic nomination even when he had some shred of credibility?  Why exactly would he run?

Or did you mean popular psychic medium John Edward?

1. I seriously doubt Clinton would run again
2. Palin right now seems to be finished and I think she's permanently
3. Crist rather for the top of the ticket
4. Strickland will be really old!
