Spitzer with Commanding Lead in New York

Question: If the 2006 election for governor of New York State were held today, whom would you support if the candidates are:
John Faso, Republican, Eliot Spitzer Democrat?

Also, in this poll, Spitzer is ahead of possible Republican nominee John Faso 68% to 18%. Spitzer defeats Thomas Golisano 61% to 28%.

Nature of the Sample: 854 NYS Registered Voters

The survey of 854 registered voters was conducted January 24th through January 26th, 2006. Registered voters were interviewed by telephone in proportion to the voter registration in each county in New York State and adjusted for turnout in statewide elections. Results are statistically significant at ±3.5%. There are 357 registered Democrats and 261 registered Republicans. Results for these sub-samples are statistically significant at ±5.5% and ±6%, respectively. The error margin increases for cross-tabulations.
