The poll was conducted August 18-22 among 600 randomly selected and statistically representative Idahoans eighteen years of age or older who say they are either very or somewhat likely to vote in the November, 2008 general election. Respondents were asked for whom they would vote for President “if the election was held today”, and the order of the two major candidates was rotated to ensure no order bias. If respondents were undecided on their preference, they were then asked their preference “if they had to decide today”, the results resulting in “hard” and “soft” support. Greg Smith & Associates sponsored and paid for the study effort, with results having a maximum statewide margin of error of + 4.0% at a 95% confidence level.
