Today's Siena poll finds New Yorkers are desperate for property tax relief and if given a choice of just one option, 52 percent said they'd perfer a circuit breaker to a cap.

Only one-third of voters are confident Gov. David Paterson and the Legislature will tackle the property tax problem this year.

On the political front, Rudy Giuliani bests Mayor Bloomberg 61-26 among Republicans as a potential gubernatorial candidate in 2010, and Paterson had a wide, 51-21, lead over AG Andrew Cuomo.

But in a hypothetical head-to-head general election match-up, Bloomberg leads either Cuomo or Paterson (48-36 and 45-37, respectively), while Giuliani would be beaten by either Democrat (47-40, Paterson-Giuliani and 47-42 Cuomo-Giuliani).

Paterson's favorable/unfavorable rating is 57-15 - virtually unchanged from last month. His job performance rating is 48-39.

The favorable/unfavorable splits for Cuomo and Bloomberg also remain consistent (57-23 and 64-20, respectively), while Giuliani has seen his rating improve from the end of his failed presidential bid (44-48 in January) to 51-39, which is comparable to last September.

Barack Obama continues to lead John McCain in New York, although the race has tightened slightly - 50-37 down from 51-33 last month.
