Poll Demographics

By gender, 50 percent of the respondents are male and 50 percent are female.
Thirty-five percent are very conservative, 38 percent somewhat conservative, 18 percent
SC Presidential Primary Voters’ Attitudes on Carbon Emissions and Climate Change Page 2
moderate, and 5 percent somewhat or very liberal. Thirty-six percent consider themselves to be
part of the conservative Christian political movement, also known as the Religious Right. Fortyone
percent are 49 years old or younger, 29 percent are 50 to 64 years old, and 28 percent are 65
or older. Forty-one percent live in the Upstate, 33 percent in the Midlands, and 25 percent in the
Lowcountry.
