Analysis
These are just general estimates based on where the parties seem to stand in the states now, as well as polls. Some of these predictions are conditional based on who is nominated; for example, New Jersey might be strong Democratic if anyone but Rudy Giuliani is the GOP nominee, John McCain locks up Arizona for the GOP but it otherwise might be competitive, and John Edwards might carry North Carolina but I doubt any other Democrat can (though it might be close.) A lot of sub-40% percentages because of the likelihood of a close election, as well as the possibility of one or more independents denying anyone a majority in many states. The unpopularity of the current Republican regime also weighs heavily in many states, and it's not clear as to how much a new nominee would change that. Member Comments User's Predictions
