It's like you have two separate paper bags filled with small pieces of paper. One of the bags reads "thread ideas" and the other bag reads "comment ideas". The pieces of paper in the first bag contain the phrases "opinion of (poster)", "opinion of (Family Guy-related individual", "opinion of (emoviolence band)" and "(poster) vs. opebo" while the second bag contains the phrases "why is opebo banned and he isn't?", "(comment about Ingress)", "(general opebo worship)" and "(comment reminding us that you live in Minneapolis)"

Maybe you throw some new phrases in every now and again, but those 8 seem to remain consistent. This is my theory.

I didn't expect to convince you, and I obviously don't know you enough to be of more help. Georgia went for Clinton in 92, almost did so again in 96, and was only a 5 point loss to Obama in 08. Again, if Minnesota counts, so does Georgia.

"WV went for Clinton in 1996 and Joe Manchin won there in 2010, so I think it's more of a swing state than FL because FL went for Bush in 1992 and Rubio won by a bigger margin than Manchin!" No one cares how a state voted in the 80s or 90s. Also, Perot took lots of white voters away from Bush in the South. Clinton would have lost GA in 1992 had it not been for Perot.

It seems to me that most of the political fury described is between Hillary and Bernie supporters.

It seems strange to me since despite being outspoken in my desire that Donald Trump be president, I've never had a problem with any of the Bernie supporters I know, especially because that includes half of my family. And most of the Cruz/Kasich supporters I know are probably only silently disappointed.

I don't know any Hillary supporters, but I'm neither a senior citizen, a Southerner, nor an employee of Goldman Sachs, so that was kind of predictable.

You also don't know any minorities or females, apparently.
