Yeah there is no way Bolton could get confirmed. All it would take is 3 Republicans to flip over and I can't see Collins, Flake, Paul, etc confirming Bolton. Corker on the other had would get though easily.

This is my dream Trump Cabinet:

Secretary of State: John Bolton
Secretary of Defense: Jeff Sessions
Attorney General: Roy Moore or Rudy
Secretary of Interior: Sarah Palin
Secretary of Education: David Barton
Secretary of Homeland Security: Sheriff David Clarke or Sheriff Joe

Now the WSJ says Giuliani’s a leading contender for Secretary of State:

Because he’s now being considered for so many jobs, Giuliani has dropped into a virtual tie on Predictit for Attorney General…

Attorney General
Rudy Giuliani 43
Trey Gowdy 41
Chris Christie 9

Meanwhile, Huckabee’s now edged ahead of Linda McMahon in the betting on Secretary of Commerce.

I may be alone in not viewing Rudy as a terrible SOS. He may still have some goodwill worldwide for 9/11 though who knows.

Corker still a better option. Bolton would be a nightmare

Basically, it sounds like Giuliani is all but assured of being in the Cabinet somewhere, but it's unclear whether it'll be Secretary of State, Attorney General, or Secretary of Homeland Security.

Sessions might get Homeland Security if he doesn't get Defense:

I'd much rather have him at State over AG.

Right now I can see:

State: Giuliani or Corker
Treasury: Mnuchin
Defense: Talent
DHS: Sessions
AG: Giuliani or Gowdy

Bolton couldn't get through the a Senate even if there were 99 Republicans in it.

What's your read? Corker maybe? Khalilzad?
Honestly I'm expecting someone we've barely heard of. Khalizad would fit that bill, but I don't sense it will be him.

Precisely. I think if he does nominate Bolton, he's using the madman strategy (which I expect he will use to perfection in his Presidency) where he'll use the threat of appeasing his base to get what he wants. It was not lost on any of us who voted for him that "the wall" isn't going to be the Berlin Wall but rather an extensive fence with additional manpower backing it up. But he'll use the threat of the wall (meaning a literal solid concrete wall) to bully Mexico while re-negotiating NAFTA.

No you don't. Bolton is cancer. The plague. We want to avoid him and everyone from that administration as much as humanly possible.

Jim Schoutte of CNN is saying that the party wants Bolton while the Trump loyalists want Rudy. He also says that Sessions is likely for Defense and Flynn for National Security Adviser.

I'm fine with Rudy being in the cabinet, but I don't want him to be something like AG because of his stance against life.  Something like Secretary of State would be fine.

I never thought that I'd want Rudy as SOS

But really; look at Bolton's record. Look at how his nomination for UN secretary went down; you had senior republicans lobbying to get him rejected

Giuliani says he won't be attorney general and keeps grinning when the Secretary of State issue comes up. #WSJCEOCouncil

Giuliani just said Bolton would be a good choice for Sec of State. Asked if anyone would be better, he said "Maybe me, I don't know."

Now that Newt Gingrich is apparently out of the running for SoS I wonder what role he'll end up playing...

Interesting. would it really be that difficult of a process to confirm John Bolton? Surprise

Im ok with Bolton or Guiliani, but I'd prefer Bolton as SoS.  Glad to see Trump is putting no-nonsense neo-Conservatives in high up places!
