It's a reference to the famous mypalfish thread from Election Day 2004:

in which he insisted that Kerry was going to win the election.  Then said "I will now accept my accolades" on the afternoon of Election Day, when the leaked exit polls were looking good for Kerry.  It's been a forum meme ever since.
