I guess Udall must be trailing in his internals?

Maybe, but given the track record of Republicans over the last few years maybe he feels he needs to give Gardner a chance to anger either the Tea Party base or independent voters by forcing him to talk about issues.

The Post endorsee has won 9 of 11 Senate and presidential races since 1996. Exceptions were Gore '00 and Strickland '02. They endorsed Hick for guv twice, also endorsed the Dem AG candidate this year.
