He hated CAD(D). Hopefully he likes this job enough to admit it.

This whole saga has reminded me of a great Hey Arnold episode from the mid 90s

"I need some stuff" is again not planning. If you can meticulously plot the exact barriers between works and work nights you can have exact plans for what you are going to eat.

Yeah Bushie a strange breed. He acts like a child in some aspects of his life and a senior in others, but a 32 year old in none.

Acting 60 years old or 4 years old averages out to 32.

Bushie would have done so many amazing things today if only he hadn't had to waste 2 hours on a dipstick. He would have watched basketball on TV, knocked out a couple naps... just his whole day stolen from him!

I like to go Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings.  I like to be there every time the doors are open if I can.  I'm old fashioned like that.  It's how I was brought up.

I'm pretty sure most laymen even in ye olden times didn't spend their entire Sundays in church.

Bushie has a real gift for parroting company talking points. I hope he's half as good at actually doing his job.

I'm concerned about the meat wrapping issues in the above post, but otherwise its reasonable good to hear they have a lot of simple tasks for him to do so he doesn't start clockwatching.

Perhaps if Bushie tried making and eating some salmon he might know what a good portion is supposed to be, but a las, there's no time for that.

Bushie's updates on his job are always great for their optimism with ironic sense of impending doom.

The update is like if Oscar Wilde wrote a parody of an Horatio Alger novel.

Bushie have you ever studied for something without watching TV at the same time?

I will put the TV on mute while I do these learning modules.  I don't want any sound competing with the sound of the modules.

Or you could have it... off?

So, I get condemnation for browning meat for nachos?  Typical, but sad.

No, you get condemnation for consider nachos part of a "diet."

It took me 2 hours 20 minutes to do those learning modules.  The best thing is I will get paid for that time.  I sent the manager an email with the time I spent on the modules.

inb4 manager says all the others only needed 30 minutes

I just got out of the doctor's office.  My diet is apparently so poor that he said I'm anemic.  He said I'm not getting the vitamins I need.  I'm not really surprised.  He's giving me a multivitamin prescription for it.  My bad cholesterol also jumped by 40 points since I had it checked a year ago.  He's also given me a nasal spray to help with the severe allergies.  My Zyrtec is having a tough time keeping up with the high pollen count.  The only good thing today is my blood sugar is perfectly normal, so still no sign of diabetes.

Clearly not eating enough nachos.

I understand the implications and dangers of high cholesterol.  I know I've got to make a change, a real bonafide change.  I'm going to try, but I won't post my food choices on the forum that way I don't get clubbed by the forum and I don't lash out in anger and falsely accuse.

*yawn*

You've been saying that forever. Yet I still don't see any damn meal plan while you still waste time labeling Work Day 7 and Work Night 6.5B.

You don't need to "make a change"; you need to make several changes. Here are the following changes you need to make:

> Eat real fruits and vegetables with every meal. Even when you go out to eat.
> Cut down red meat and eat other proteins like chicken, turkey, and fish.
> Exercise every day as much as possible. No pain, no gain.
> No cheat meals. Ever.

Bushie, weren't you proudly taking a multivitamin that wasn't prescription strength? What happened to that?

You didn't need to go see a doctor. We've told you this hundreds of times.

I knew my diet was in bad shape, but the anemia was a blind side.  I've always associated anemia with people on the extreme opposite end of the scale from me, being too thin.  I learned a new one today.

I'm shocked. You're usually so knowledgeable on health issues.

Also, is anybody really angry at Bushie when we tell him to eat a salad instead of nachos? I think the anger and lashing is a projection of ODF's feeling when he reads he cannot eat ground beef as a diet.

A sudden increase in exercise for Bushie would actually be a very bad idea given his girth and general level of health (for want of a kinder way of putting it). There are certain risks attached. Which is a sad thing to type as normally this only starts becoming a concern to people in their 50s or so. Fortunately we can be sure that Bushie has absolutely no intention whatsoever of going down that particular path to inadvertent suicide.

What he needs to do instead is slowly increase his activity levels and to do so over the longterm. And ideally also decrease the amount that he eats (smaller portions, no seconds, a crackdown on snacking, no binge eating, etc). Small changes of that sort - if they become permanent - have an infinitely higher chance of helping him to deflate (so to speak) than what usually gets peddled here.

Small change suggestions have been tried and failed. "Don't eat ice cream for a month."  "Get a salad instead of french fries with your burger." "Stand up while you watch television." All he refuses. You give Bushie an inch and he'll take a mile.

Your post will already be used by him to advocate that standing up at work counts as exercise and that nachos counts as a diet because at least it's not a cheeseburger. Or a diet where he brags he had one small poptart for breakfast.

He needs to go all in on diet and exercise or he might as well not go at all.

I wouldn't want him to go on a crash diet. That's basically what he tries to do now--escapades where he tries to go entire days eating a spoonful of Cheerios and Diet Dr. Pepper as his only sustenance.

He needs to cut the crap and start eating chicken and fish instead of beef, vegetables with every meal, and only fruit for dessert.  These aren't crash diets because once you get used to them they become palatable, but if all you want to eat is burgers and shakes then it'll never taste salty enough or sweet enough or fatty enough.

I am of the opinion that small changes are for people like you or me; looking to lose a few pounds in the spring gained in the winter. Complete lifestyle changes are what Bushie needs.

Here are some menu items at Buffalo Wild Wings if Bushie were at all serious about cholesterol, anemia, and losing weight:

ASIAN ZINGŪ CHICKEN SALAD
Crisp greens and cabbage topped with grilled, or cooked to order, chicken tossed in our signature Asian ZingŪ sauce garnished with mandarin oranges and fried wontons. Served with light Asian Sesame dressing.

MEDITERRANEAN SALAD
Lemon pepper chicken on top of fresh greens, wedge tomato, cucumbers, carrots, red peppers, onions, crumbled bleu cheese and Kalamata olives.  Served with a side of Mediterranean style bread, tzatziki-feta dressing and hummus.
View menu details

BUILD YOUR OWN GRILLED CHICKEN
Grilled chicken breast with your choice of toppings to make your own personalized sandwich, served with natural-cut French fries.
Pick any or all:  Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pico de Gallo, Pickle Spear
Then a cheese: American, Cheddar, Swiss, Pepper Jack, Queso
Sauce it up: Your favorite sauce or seasoning, Ranch, Bleu Cheese, Southwestern Ranch
Extras on top (for an additional charge): Bacon, Chili, Pulled Pork, Sliced Steak

10 pushups for a 289 lb man with no muscle buildup is an impossible feat. He needs to walk/eat off a lot of fat first.

I drop 3-4 pounds every 5 or 5 1/2 hour shift, but with the days in between

Remarkable! This man lost a pound of belly fat standing up for an hour.

We are going to meet for supper at 1900 this evening in Broken Arrow, so I am going to leave here at 1835 to get gas and then head over to the restaurant.  I should be home by 2100 or shortly thereafter and plan to be in bed by 2200 or 2230.  Even though I have nowhere to go in the morning, I want to stay in the habit of getting up super early so Thursday morning won't come as big of a shock.  I will go to bed tomorrow night by 2000 or 2030.  As of 1800, I have 19 1/2 hours until Work Night 5 and 35 hours until Work Day 5.

Bushie... For the sake of your Earthly life will you at least get chicken tonight?

The chicken actually sounds appealing tonight.  I might just do that.

Go with a salad and customize it if you have to.  It's a sit-down and they will gladly add what you want/subtract what you don't.

He's got the prescription strength multivitamin from the Doc', man. He doesn't need any of that gross green stuff on his plate.
