Governor ElectionsGuy (I-WI) - 281 EVs[/color
Senator Goldwater (R-Wa) - 257 EVs

Due to the candidate very similar views on domestic policy, the election becomes about foreign policy, where ElectionGuy's more cautious and non-interventionist views turn out to be slightly more popular than Goldwater's hawkish interventionism.

Governor Goldwater (R-NV) - 269 EVs
Senator MormDem (D-UT) - 269

Goldwater ends up winning the tied election because of the votes of the Republican controlled House.

Switch Oregon, Washington, Virginia, Ohio, Montana, Utah, Missouri, and Michigan and you've got it.

Pretty sure you still win that one soundly.

Actually, you win 274-264

However, I don't see myself winning Michigan, and I've been under the impression that Montana was fairly libertarian*, so I don't see it being the first western state to flip to you. What about this?

292-246

*(by "libertarian" I mean less socially conservative than most Republican leaning states)

I still don't see why I would win Michigan. If anything, I think would underperform in the Midwest/rust belt area, especially against a socially conservative Democrat. Here is how I see the best case scenario for me:

346-192

For comparison, here what I think your best case scenario is:

420-108

Basically, I think your ideology has more broad appeal than mine.

(And yes, I'm counting this as my post. Tongue)

A socially conservative third party candidate causes problems for me.

Extreme Republican (R-TN)
Goldwater (R-WA)

I'm not entirely sure who would win with this primary map, but as a general election map I would win 312-226.

Clark Kent
Goldwater
I finally drop out after the March 15th, with Illinois being the last state I won. A combination of Kent's regional strength in the Northeast and his pro-life views causes him to easily beat me in most states.

Governor L.D. Smith (D-VA) - 424 EVs
Senator Goldwater (R-ID) - 114 EVs

A farming crises, combined with Senator Goldwater's opposition to Farm , causes Republican support to collapse in the Great Plains region of the country, while the Senator's atheism and pro-choice views also leads to decreased turnout from religious conservatives, which allows Governor L.D. Smith to win in some southern states with large african-american populations. Most surprisingly, the Governor's Mormon faith, combined with Senator Goldwater's aforementioned atheism, allows him to win in the state of Utah

RFayette (R-CA) - 318 EVs
Goldwater (D-CA) - 220 EVs

The election is essentially a repeat of 2016, with RFayette being a more likable verson of Donald Trump, and Goldwater being like Hillary Clinton with more appeal in the west but significantly less appeal everywhere else.

CXSmith - 332 EVs
Goldwater - 206 EVs

We are both poor fits for the South and the Midwest, though I am going off the assumption that the black vote would end up bring more loyal towards Smith than the rural white vote would towards me, which is why he wins in places like NC and OH.
