Currently engaged in the best Twitter war of my life. Ironically, with fellow Trump "supporters" (IE, interlopers) who are calling me a globalist zionist cuck.

Strange... If there were three things I was going to describe you as...
I mean, I do believe Israel has a right to exist so I guess that makes me a Zionist even though I'm very anti-settlement on the whole. Of course, Zionist to this guy is basically an insult.

Oh yeah, and while calling me a Zionist, he also called me anti-Israel. I kid you not.

And to top it off, he looks like Sebastian Bach on meth.

Ew, phone banking is awful. I phone banked when I worked for AFP and couldn't get to the doors (which was somewhat often despite Florida's reputation as the "Sunshine State") and of course during the campaigns I have worked on. People on the phones are far, far worse than those at the doors because the phone gives the person a degree of anonymity and thus, a license to be nasty.

I of course had bad experiences at the doors too (one time during the 2012 campaign, an 85 year old woman who was going door to door with me decided to come out as a lesbian to me because she had never told anyone and knew she'd never see me again. Another time last summer on my last day at AFP I was threatened with a weed wacker by a man) and of course, while poll watching in the 2012 campaign at my own High School, a guy threatened to physically attack me because I apparently was anti-woman for daring to have my candidates sign on a stick.

Good luck, CC, you'll be in the lions den!

Oh yeah, and I started my second (and hopefully final) year at TCC. I think I have a semester or two left after this one before I can transfer into FSU.

My friend Mike just got a call (he's been living with me on and off until he finds a six month lease) from the Clinton campaign. As of five minutes ago, he's introducing Tim Kaine tomorrow at FAMU!

The police just shot a guy outside my apartment after a brief siege. I saw the exchange but I can't tell what's going on.

The heaviest stuff I've seen myself was a struggling guy from the apartment next door led by the police in handcuffs. No shooting.
So this is what went down:

Across from my apartment, about 10-12 police cars showed up. They surrounded a small duplex across the street that seems sort of seedy and for a solid hour had a loudspeaker blaring "XXX, you are under arrest. Please surrender yourself into custody in a peaceful manner." My friend and I watched from the windows with the lights out (we didn't want to be seen) for a good while. Eventually, a helicopter arrived and circled in the distance but it never got too close. At that point, the recorded loud speaker message stopped and a police officer personally began talking through it. He gave a number to a cell phone and urged the guy to call him. As he did that, I saw about ten officers in full gear with long guns begin to converge on the house, taking cover behind trees, fences, cars, etc. My friends phone died at this moment, so we didn't get any video.

About a minute later, we saw several police officers rush towards the door followed by a single pistol shot and three loud, rapid booms. We couldn't decide if the later three booms were flash bangs or shotgun blasts, but judging by the lack of any bright flash and the rapid arrival of an ambulance points to the fact that someone was shot.

Oh and this is the same friend who was over happens to be the one who was supposed to introduce Tim Kaine. They cancelled that portion of the event this morning so we're not going. I'm watching him right now on C-SPAN and an acquaintance of my friend who I've met a few times is up on stage behind him.

T-Pain's niece was stabbed to death about a quarter mile away from me in a CVS parking lot. It's creating quite a buzz in the college town considering the suspect is still on the run.

Just got home from voting...that was a tough one.
I hope your precinct isn't in the hood like mine. I vote at Tallahassee's version of Dunbar Village. As of 12:50 when I voted, only 41 people turned out, as opposed to around 120ish when I voted at 8:30 AM in the presidential primary.

I survived on a budget of $18 with two friends for three days without power. We ate hamburgers that we cooked at a grill on the FSU campus for food, budgeted by drinking only four locos and 40s, and walked three miles to charge my phone off an outlet behind the only gas station with power, where we had to get a canister of gas because my car literally didn't have enough to get out of the parking garage.

Tally was hit hard by Hermine. No major damage in terms of property besides a couple hundred downed trees and some flooding here and there, but everyone underestimated the storm. I expected to have power back the afternoon after the storm, not Sunday morning. In fact, they apparently had been saying that it would be until Tuesday. I didn't know that as I had a dead phone and laptop and no access to Internet or TV.

The other day, I actually managed to use "he who feeds you, controls you" in a casual, non-political conversation with friends. I'm quite proud of myself. Cheesy
Me too! I used it when my roommate and I were fighting over how to go about and get by for the day, and I happened to use that quote when I reminded him that I was the one with the car, the money, and the food.

I did my first broadcast of the new semester on my radio show last night and it felt great. So happy to be back in my element.
What is your show about and can it be heard online?

I am in Istanbul Airport on a layover right now. The seat pocket on my flight here had a pamphlet called "FETO's coup attempt in Turkey" which was an 80-page government account of the coup and why the US should extradite Gulen - of course entirely in English.
Any remaining signs of the bombing?

My Grandma had yet another stroke last week, but didn't tell anyone about the fact that she couldn't use her left hand until yesterday when my Aunt was visiting her. They think she has lost the use of that hand permanently. I might be driving down to SoFl if she doesn't get released from the hospital by Friday.

My grandpa, the one who had the fall back in early August, is a real oxymoron. He'd been told specifically he shouldn't drive for three months, but guess what he's doing... I mean seriously, you just can't reach him.

Oh, he did promise me not to drive anywhere "too far", but this day he drove like 300 km.
My Grandma apparently is already complaining about not being able to smoke in the hospital. How is she going to do her favorite past time (chain smoking with her right hand, holding the phone with the left) with only one hand? Hopefully she'll improve quickly. She has had two previous strokes in the year since I've moved to Tallahassee and has rebounded pretty quickly, all the while maintaining her two pack a day habit.

Wow, Atlas posters finding love with each other? Awesome!

On a side note, have there been any couples of forum posters before this?
Did they actually meet on here? Or did the relationship predate their membership?

So long story short, I've been completely driven out of my home of the last year and had to move into a bigger, more expensive unit in my building as a last resort.

Wait, is this is a good thing or a bad thing? By the word 'expensive' I'll assume bad. Why did you get driven out of your home?

So long story short, I've been completely driven out of my home of the last year and had to move into a bigger, more expensive unit in my building as a last resort.

Why can't you find another building?  Maybe somewhere safer?
I've lived in a very safe, very nice, and very reasonably priced building directly across the street from FSU for the last year. My old roommate moved out and the new guy moved in. Within a week, he had two friends moved in (with no intentions of kicking them out), was selling weed well over the felony limit, and made it clear that I was living in his apartment despite the fact that I had been there long before him. On top of it all, like my junkie brother, he was taking Xanax and acting like a general nutcase. We had some drunken fights that usually got very heated and on more than one occasion resulted in our neighbors restraining us. I at one point popped into the IRC to see just how dangerous a situation I was in (he think's he's Scarface but in reality he's a spoiled rich Brazilian kid from Boca with past rape allegations leveled against him) regarding the drugs. I was trying to engineer his eviction, but the building couldn't help me unless I ratted him out in a way that would expose my efforts, something I was unwilling to do as it would jeopardize what little peace I had in the interim. Not to mention that it would make a Xanax addicted prick with an unlimited amount of money and a small army of actually intimidating friends who seem to be constantly indebted to him willing to do his bidding.

So, long story short, I ended up moving from the second floor to a single unit in the basement. It costs more, but it was the only choice I could make that would not a) make me look like an asshole, b) result in a long running legal drama that would surely bog me down for the remainder of the year.

I wish I was back in my old apartment. I wish I never met this scumbag. I wish a lot of things. But basically, for the first time in five weeks, I can go back to living my normal life without his two ghetto thug friends sleeping on my couch and stealing my smokes and having to worry about who was at the door every time there was a knock. In fact, the day I moved out, his two friends got accused of stealing a purse from a girl who they were selling weed too. It was just a bad situation that was only getting worse and worse.

TL;DR, my roommate uses his family wealth (his dad was in charge of all Latin American CitiBank branches apparently) to buy himself friends who come from neighborhoods that he himself would never enter to help him run his pretend cartel. It's only a matter of time before he gets himself into serious trouble in his desperate quest to live out his twisted fantasy of being some type of college town cartel kingpin.

I'd like to thank my two forum nemesis's Xahar and DFB for giving me the advice of "quit being a shithead." That actually probably prevented me from escalating the situation and doing something I'd regret like outright inviting the police in or something, as it appealed to both my ego and my desire to.....well.....not be viewed by neighbors as being an asshole.

So...I might be getting hit by Hurricane Matthew Thursday and Friday, right now we're projected to have 100% chance of rain with winds between 35-50 mph possible. They have been increasing the wind strength since Friday night's projection.
After the nightmare of that last Hurricane that just rolled through Tallahassee, I sure hope this one stays the hell away. The power will take a year to come back on.

My Aunt and Uncle are getting ready for Hurricane Matthew. They were not sure what was going to happen, but they figured that if they don't shutter down their campsite and get their house stocked up on supplies, they'd end up like I did during Hurricane Hermonie.

Hey guys, just finished boarding and sandbagging, rain bands are starting to hit us and the winds are picking up.

Good luck.

Stay in touch as long as you can, okay?
If it looks that bad down in that area, I can't imagine the scenes in Boynton where I'm from. My parents and brothers are safe at my Aunts, but my Grandma as I mentioned earlier is still at her apartment and isn't planning to leave.
