We need more of this. If we get down to the spirit of social conservatism (which, believe it or not, is not inherently evil), gay marriage can have a real place in it. We're not even close to getting there, but what Bush has done could be a step in the right direction.

Social conservatives need to abandon opposition to same-sex marriage. America can unite on a crackdown on perverts who sexually abuse and exploit children.

^Of course, Reagan himself was likely not a true believer on social issues.

Anyway, who cares about these war criminals' views on gay marriage? Bush Sr. launched two wars while in office (Panama, first Gulf War). Not to mention, getting off the hook for Iran-Contra, which should have brought down the Reagan adminsitration.

His son learned from "the best." Ugh...

The first Gulf War was in reaction to the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein. I don't see how he's a war criminal for that or for Panama.

Guys, lets not focus on deeds from over 20 years ago, and lets focus on the good.

Is that how it works now?  It doesn't matter what you did in the past.  Just be seen at a gay wedding and all your sins will be washed away.  Has the gay rights bandwagon jumped the shark?  It's two chicks getting married... not a baptism.

I wouldn't be surprised if all of these recent actions are being made to clean up his image after his close call with the Grim Reaper a few months back.

I wasn't aware his image needed "cleaning up."  Frankly compared to the Republican that preceded him and the Republican that came after he's looking a lot better with each passing year.

I concur. I remember saying many times between 2001 and 2008:

"His father would have never made that mistake".

Such is how we are likely to see those two Presidents for a very long time. Until his health got to him, the elder Bush could travel just about anywhere in the world with impunity (Iran and North Korea excepted). Dubya can't, and such is not a matter of personal health.

The elder Bush should have won a Nobel Peace Prize. The younger Bush is a war criminal.
