Easily my least favorite cabinet pick of Trump's (and that's saying a lot.) Massive HP and absolutely terrible for education. If anyone wants to provide some reasons why she's a good pick/FF, I'm all ears. I have honestly yet to hear a good argument as to why she is a good pick other than generic "muh outsider who will shake things up" or "muh school choice" ones.

You'd expect someone nominated for Education Secretary to know proper forms:

The worst human being to be nominated in the Trump cabinet. Should have zero influence over education policy in this country and God help the teachers and students who are subject to her policies if she's confirmed.

The worst human being to be nominated in the Trump cabinet.

You think so? Don't get me wrong; the prospect of DeVos running DOE is an absolutely horrifying one, but do you really think she's a worse human being than Jeff the Klansman?

Perhaps they're equal. Education is very sacred to me, and having someone who wants to destroy public education is very much akin to racism in its horribleness.

FF (I support school choice and- especially- vouchers).  I actually think we should just do away with public schools.  With that said, I do believe that education is a right, so just give every student the amount of money that the government would have used on them in public school to be used to help pay private school tuition.  So, it's more complicated than just saying FF, because I don't think there should be a Department of Education or public school.  She is a step in the right direction, though.

Seems to be dangerously unqualified for the job, easily Trump's worst nominee (I, of all people, have kind of come around to not dislike Sessions that much, at least until I can do some more objective research on his past).  However, I know nothing about her personally, so I am not sure I can vote "HP."

So I sort of know her. I worked with her son for a summer. Her mother gave me and my friends shelter when we were sailing during a lightning storm and beached our boat on her property. And while my family and friends have sometimes butted heads with the Amway families, that branch of the family has never done us wrong.

That being said, I find myself on the opposite end of the political spectrum from the Devoses, and therefore I don't like how much they have influenced Michigan politics. In terms of SoE, I think she is completely unqualified and is the Cabinet nominee most deserving of being voted down. Plus the voucher programs and charter schools she pushes are disasters.

She's a rich little bitch.  Her fake personality is almost as irritating to me as her airheadedness.  I've dealt with plenty of people like her who work in the education system in CT...

Price is worse. He's smarter, and HHS is a position from which he can wreak far more damage than DeVos can at Education, which is much less powerful. But DeVos is really horrible - we'd be better off not having a federal department of education at all than we will be with her running it.

I have no way of knowing whether DeVos is really the sort of witless swine that she came across as during her confirmation hearing. There's because there's a risk that any wealthy person who is active in the non-profit sector faces: When you're surrounded by people chasing your donations, everyone becomes a supplicant, and no one is likely to tell you when you're wrong.

In general, extreme wealth has an infantilizing effect on people. It's no coincidence that this is a common caricature of Trump. With DeVos, you can sense that there's something not quite right with her.

Yep.

DeVos is still a nightmare level candidate.

So basically you support a giant corporate education subsidy in place of public education? Horray for crony capitalism! Seems to conflict a lot with your usual "muh free markets" generic position. As for DeVos, dumb as a sack of sh**t on a sidewalk in Phoenix in the middle of July. Seriously, how the hell did she even become a billionaire?

She's the definition of corruption. Bernie Sanders asked her if her family donated around "$200 MILLION" and she said, "That's possible." As if that isn't a problem or conflict of interest.
