Let's say that Obama is narrowly re-elected to a second term in 2012. The Republicans by 2016 have taken over Congress (but not with a large enough majority to repeal Obamacare), healthcare is still a mess, and unemployment is at 9.7% on election day.

The Republicans nominate Senator Rand Paul, who picks Governor Scott Brown of Massachusetts (having won in 2014).

The Democrats nominate Governor Andrew Cuomo, who picks Senator Mark Warner as his VP.

Rand Paul basically runs on themes similar to the themes he ran on in the Kentucky Primary.

Discuss, with maps.

Paul is a nutjob and that would quickly come out in the campaign, meanwhile the Democratic ticket is incredibly strong.
