Lame Duck Session

Democrats focus on two pieces of legistlation dring the Lame Duck Session. The first is the START Treaty. Senate Republicans split on the issue. Lugar and other Moderate Republicans come out and vote for the Treaty while Mitch McConnell leads conservatives to vote against the treaty. Americans support of the treaty is high, with 71% in favor. It is ratified narrowly by a 70-30 vote. 18 Republicans support the treaty. The next issue is the Bush Tax Cuts. The large Democratic majority in the House votes to repeal the tax cuts for ones who are making over 250,000 dollars a year. The Senate, however, disagrees and vote against the House proposal. Eventually, Pres. Obama concedes and introduces a law that will extend the Tax Cuts for all until 2015.

2012

So far, only minor candidates have declared their candidacy for President but Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are widley expected to run. Obama loses to a generic Republican 49-41 in a new poll a new electoral map also takes shape with state by state polls released.

Pres. Obama's approval hits a new low at 43% while unemployment is at 9.5%

Looks good. Though I'm not sure why NC and MI would be in Obama's column just yet...He'd probably be doing better in VA than NC.

PPP showed us that obama is leading in VA and will lead in NC when the economy begins to grow.

Despite Obama's low approvals in NC, he does remain pretty competitive there. He leads Palin, he's tied with Rommey and he slightly trails Huckabee. Maybe NC will be friendlier to Obama than I thought.

Lugar retired because of possible challenges from The Tea Party and old age

All of the big name GOPers in the state are pro-Lugar. The Tea Party would get drilled in both the primary and the general. And for his old age, he is very aware and coherent.

Trump seems like an interesting candidate. Hopefully, you can put up dates on Independent candidates like Lou Dobbs, Jesse Ventura, Ralph Nader, and Michael Bloomberg soon. Good job so far.

Go Daniels!!! Nice TL. I think that Trump's candidacy will be quite interesting. I could see him running as an independent in the general after failing at the GOP nomination.

The idea of Trump winning states in the primaries is interesting. I'm hoping he pulls out victories in NY and other states.
