I don't think any of us were expecting Ige to lead by this much this early on.

Nope. I was expecting 55/45-ish, at most.

A few more votes in for Republican Lt. Gov., Ahu's lead over Sutton is now 74-26. Still not called, though.

I don't know much about David Ige, but he seems relatively progressive himself. Although I'm an Abercrombie fan, are there any glaring votes that Ige's made?

(also glorious news on DMK losing)

You know, Hanabusa is probably ideologically closer to me, and I would've voted for her after Inouye's endorsement, but I'm kind of torn on her leading. Schatz seems like a much more competent figure.

Ige-Abercrombie governor's race by county from the AP:

Hawaii 61-38
Honolulu 71-28
Kauai 67-31
Maui 57-42

3 election-day precincts are reporting in the Governor's race (4 in the Senate race for some reason).

I don't know about Ige either, but it seems like only progressives get primaried in Hawaii.

And the county returns for the democratic gubernatorial primary are now in:

Honolulu (0.7% in) - Ige 71-28
Kauai (12.5% in) - Ige 68-31

And the AP has called the democratic governor primary for Ige, who is leading Abercrombie 67-32 statewide!

The lead will probably narrow somewhat later on, but way to go Ige!

This seems to be relatively true. Let's just hope they don't try to take down Hirono.

KITV is saying that the second printout will be released at 8:00 PM (2:00 AM EST). It won't be alot of votes, but the third printout, which will be bigger, will be released at 9:00 PM (3:00 AM EST).

To clarify, the following races remain uncalled:
Lt. Gov. (Both Parties)
Maui Mayor
Kauai Mayor
HI-02 GOP
DEM Senator

They're currently discussing the idea that Abercrombie is losing basically just because of his personality.

I mean no one even ran against someone with a more conservative Progressive Punch score than 80% of the Democrats, who represents a navy blue district? Ridiculous. The primary challenges are always from the right in Hawaii. Case got 45% against Akaka.

I think they mayor's races are non-partisan with the top-2 vote getters going on to the general election.

Even more ludicrous was that Hanabusa got the endorsement from EMILY's List after weighing a primary challenge against Patsy Mink of all people.

Yep. That's why I went down to third place when I posted the results from those races:

Maui Mayor: Arakawa leading Paltin 72-12. Kay at 5.
Kauai Mayor: Carvalho leading Barca 68-28. Desilva at 3.

Hawaii News Now: Abercrombie would need 60% of the non-first-printout vote to pull off an amazing comeback.
