nicotine is a stimulant and thus suppresses appetite.  if we could get him on a tin of snus* per day plus a few caffeine pills, he'd inevitably start to lose some weight.

the one side effect would be increased anxiety, which combined with his pre-existing OCD/OCPD could have significant side effects.

*snus is an form of oral tobacco that poses much lower, but probably not zero, increased risk of oral and esophageal/stomach cancers.

At this point, I don't think anything less than meth is going to cut it.

I put nicotine into my system several times a day and I find it relaxes me rather than increases my anxiety. (And I have diagnosed anxiety disorders). The stimulant effect is helpful for loosing weight, speeding up your metabolism, but I don't know about appetite suppression.

It's also helpful because nicotine allows you to drink more coffee or tea, caffeine being another stimulant. Nicotine doubles the metabolism rate of caffeine so you can take in twice as much caffeine with experiencing caffeine overdose.

Perhaps in the form of a nicotine gum. He already has an insanely severe problem with habit forming substances and with getting/keeping employment. He doesn't need to add actual tobacco into the mix. There are also a lot of fat smokers out there. I agree that some meth may be just what the doctor ordered.

methamphetamine does exist as part of a few still-existing Rx drugs.  see Desoxyn, intended for ADD/ADHD cases (Bushie probably could meet the diagnostic criteria, with his genetically inherited clock-checking and whatnot)

I've been advocating that he starts using methamphetamine for a while now.

It would be very dangerous for his heart, so he'd have to start with low doses, but it seems like a good way to control his propensity to fall asleep, as well as obviously his weight.  I think if he keeps walking around the way he is, he's in very serious danger of all kinds of illness.  It would be worth trying.

He needs a drill instructor more than a drug.

I definitely don't see a "safe" way to use meth. That'd be like intentionally installing a virus on your computer because your hard drive is getting full and needs a cleaning. Even if there is, it would require extreme self-control and strong judgment and this is Bushie is we're talking about so...

I agree with memphis, the best thing for this would be some sort of patch or nicotine gum. Or ecigs. That might help a little, but overall King is probably right.

E-cigs would be wonderful for ODF.   No smoke and suppressed appetite?  He'll be back down to 225 in 6 months.
