Just watched Melancholia.
I'll withhold my own thoughts for now.
Well, you have made them abundantly clear before
I've discussed Lars von Trier in the past? I believe you, but why don't I remember this?
In any case, watching Melancholia has changed my thoughts on Lars von Trier. I'm trying to decide how, but it has.
You haven't discussed him, but you empty quoted "Von Trier is unwatchable" in a poll. It is in a locked thread, so I can't quote it, but here:

I remembered it because I was surprised he was unpopular. Most forumites belong to a segment that adores him in Denmark.
Well,
Melancholia was eminently watchable in that I sat through it and was at times even engrossed and interested in what was going on, even though it wasn't what I'd call an
enjoyable experience. (One review that I saw called it 'the von Trier film for people who hate von Trier films', so I guess that might be what was going on here.) I'm still not voting FF, though, and
Dogville and ESPECIALLY
The Idiots were still baffling ordeals that I wouldn't wish on anybody; in the latter case it's not even that I especially dislike Dogme films--
The Celebration was incredible.
