The IRC is Shelob's lair.  Dark rumors preside there.

Cincinattus represents Shelob.  It is his lair.

I think we all know who Gollum is.  The regulars.  The servant of Shelob who guides people into her traps.  (Get in!  We're whispering nasty things about the guy who offended us!)

But Gollum only has power in Shelob's lair.  Outside (on the forum itself) he is powerless.

Creepy coincidence:  Attus, the end of cincinattus...is a deprecated genus of what we know as jumping spiders.

But now Sawx runs the place!
