Is FOX just shilling for Rubio here like they did for Jeb in many of their past polls?

Trump should run just fine in New Hampshire (as he does in Massachusetts) relative to other Republicans.

A conservative Hispanic pro-life Republican isn't going to beat Hillary Clinton in NH. Safe D as usual and a complete waste of time and money for Republicans. If Scott Brown and Mitt Romney get crushed in NH, no one can win there. Next.
In all fairness, Brown was easily tagged as a carpetbagger. You may have a point about Romney, though.

Not really. New Hampshire people remember Romney's awful job as governor from getting Boston airwaves and his constant flipflopping.

The whole carpet bagging thing was of Shaheen's main attack lines against Brown.

The GOP nominee could win NH and TNVol would still come up with an excuse for why NH is always a "safe D" state ... It's just way too important of a part of his life.

You can't deny that it's been trending heavily to the Democrats in the last 15 years.

If you define trend as how a state voted in relation to the nation, the state is trending slightly republican. In '04 it was about four points more democratic than the nation, in 2008 it was three points more democratic than the nation, in 2012 it was less than two points more democratic than the nation.

And Brown lost because he was a carpetbagger. Shaheen used that attack numerous times and it did influence voters, whether you want to believe it or not.

And people still claim that Trump is not a laughing stock. OMG.

In the most educated state in the US, in Colorado, Trump isn't even in the top two in the GOP primary field lol. That tells you everything you needs to know about Trump. Intelligent people loath him, stupid people adore him.

Unfortunately though, the normally very intelligent TV broadcaster CNN is promoting Trump like crazy. We all know it's all because of increasing their ratings and thus their commercial revenues, but it's just so freaking sad that even CNN, which mostly has been a huge defender of democracy and human rights throughout its history (very well helped by its founder Ted Turner), can destroy the democracy of the USA in such a blatant way. Even the Supreme Court couldn't possibly destroy US democracy in any more hurtful way than CNN has done during the past 6 months!

Brown was quite moderate, ran a strong campaign, won the debates and still lost. Seriously, who could have beaten Shaheen?

Someone who wasn't a carpetbagger. Charles Bass, Dan Innis, Jeb Bradley, ....

While I don't think NH is as safe blue as tn volunteer thinks, republicans shouldn't bother with New Hampshire unless there's. A serious third party run to the left. It's only 4 electoral votes and states like Iowa, Colorado, and even Pennsylvania are more elastic than NH.

A 7-point lead isn't a stomping; it would make it one of the closest states (probably).

Good #'s for GOP this time around.

Is FOX just shilling for Rubio here like they did for Jeb in many of their past polls?

Trump should run just fine in New Hampshire (as he does in Massachusetts) relative to other Republicans.

Donald Trump isn't something that's going to excite the much more moderate, educated, and realistic right of New Hampshire quite as much. Trump's voice and energy appeals best to hardline rights of the South and Midwest/west. New Hampshire knows politics more than just about any other state and it's not hard to see through Trump rhetoric used to excited 40-55 year old men and women from the Bible Belt and lean-right western states.

So, no, Donny shouldn't be running neck and neck with more reasonably experienced 'pubs in NH.

And people still claim that Trump is not a laughing stock. OMG.

Which explains why Trump is near 50% in the state of Massachusetts, right?  Or are they just all "stupid"?  And Carson is the candidate of the Evangelical heartland far more than Trump.  Trump's appeal seems to be that he does very well in places with a large white, working class Catholic population.

As far as electability goes, Trump, on net, has been doing about as well as other Republican candidates.  This is surprising, but it is the case.

Shaheen was a reasonably popular governor, so that gave her a tailwind right out of the box.

OK, you win. Smiley I guess she was the incumbent Senator no, with reasonably popularity? Yes, I see that she was, and beat Sununu on the 2008 Obama wave, which was particularly strong in this area among others, and was thus the incumbent when facing a less congenial environment in 2014. Incumbency if the incumbent is reasonably competent, is worth about 3 points in my book, which was more than her margin, if I recall correctly. Her percentage eroded by a couple of points (if you give her a 3 point incumbency factor, that's a five point erosion), but needed to erode by a bit more to lose.

Shaheen won because she was an incumbent Senator with more than decent approval ratings. Against another opponent, she would have won by a larger margin, Brown gave her a run for her money despite his own mediocre approval numbers (due to the carpetbagger issue). It wasn't because NH is a solid D state.

Shaheen also underperformed in 2008 considering the environment and the fact that Sununu was regarded as one of the most vulnerable incumbents and for a while the most vulnerable incumbents of the whole cycle during much of 2007 and 2008. Many expected a landslide and instead Sununu lost by 6.4% in a 7% nationwide Democratic victory and a 10% Obama victory in the state itself.
