First status I saw on Facebook this morning was from an acquaintance saying "IF YOU VOTED THIRD PARTY, F[inks]CK YOU ASSHOLE". No Trump gloaters that I can see. People are hysterical in my neck of the woods. Think I may have to take a break from Facebook for a while.

How bad is your social media right now?

My stepdaughter posted this (paraphrase) "if you voted for Trump you don't love me and you are not my friend".   Ugggg.  Nobody has given me sh**t for voting third party (and I wasn't shy about it), but I think anybody that would knows enough not to Smiley

Certainly more anguish than celebration in general (I think my FB generally leans a little left).

I mean there's a lot of completely justified horror and fear that I'm seeing too but on the other hand this one Facebook friend of mine who I went to school with like seven years ago is talking about making it a requirement that the president have economics and history PhD.s as if anyone who disagrees with this is a blithering fool.

There is some of that on mine, but not much. A lot more anguish and bewilderment about the future than anger.

Mostly anti-trump rhetoric, anger and dismay from both Australia and the US. Anger and hatred against Stein voters is becoming most evident with a lot of verbal tirades. Johnson voters are getting hated, as are Sanders voters hating on Clinton winning the nomination. Some trump supporters, but not much, probably more than #Johnson voters but more quiter.

"IF YOU VOTED THIRD PARTY, F[inks]CK YOU ASSHOLE".

no kidding?  That's weird.  I tell everyone I voted for Bradford Lyttle.  Mostly they either roll their eyes or they ask, "Who?!"

If anyone actually gives me a hard time for voting for Bradford Lyttle it'll just be payback, because I've already given all of them a hard time for voting for Clinton or voting for Trump.  Smiley

Anyway my post-election experience is the opposite.  Finally, the phone at home has stopped ringing five times a day.  The pollsters and the National Right To Life Committee and the ACLU and NRA and NARAL and all the rest are leaving me in peace.  My mobile phone has stopped filling with 50 texts per day reminding me to vote for Trump or Clinton or Toomey or McGinty or whatever.  The ads have stopped appearing on facebook.  Two of my facebook "friends" are gloating, and a few are bitching, and one is talking about how we all need to line up and claim to be muslims if the government starts registering muslims (which I will do), but no one is attempting to convince me of anything anymore, or ask me about my stances anymore.  It is a relief.

Most of my fb friends (I only have 60) are slitting their wrists or drying their eyes.

So much hope and joy and disbelief like I have never seen before. There is the occasional nut who posts something ridiculous (mostly older people), but overwhelmingly joyous. So many PMs rejoicing.

lots of Labour people thinking it means Corbyn will win; but the vast majority of twitter is just people who are scared sh**tless that a man who embodies so much that our generation is against has got to power

I don't know about the case of this particular FB friend, but I've noticed that people who make comments like this, or broader ones referencing 'the lessons of history' in situations like this rarely seem to know much history themselves.

Anyway, yeah, just a barrage of hot takes from people who probably couldn't name more than a handful of US states - of course, I've been liking them all Smiley

"Our generation" meaning the urban white millennials that inspire so many completely false articles that make sweeping generalizations based on 10% of people that age? Thanks Lena Dunham!

Well as someone who comes from South London I don't think of 'my generation' as white- but yes my generation is broadly younger millennials considering I'm 19.

I mean I was completely against Sanders; and spend the entire primary arguing it was just as you said ' urban white millennials' screaming but there was clearly something right in the movement.

that's annoying

I get where they're coming from, but it's at the very least hyperbole.

Mine is mostly pro-Republican and happy, but I made the mistake of commenting on some liberal friend's posts, and I got attacked by the SJW mafia.  Big mistake!

I don't know about my Facebook account.  I posted to everyone last Friday that I had to take a break, and I haven't logged back in yet.  As of last Friday, it was already becoming overwhelmed with posts about how the election was going to be stolen, and I just couldn't deal with those toxic levels of paranoia.

Incredibly depressing, but pretty level-headed, considering the circumstances.

Probably 95% about how terrible Trump is and 5% about how awesome Trump is.
