I think Jeff Stein of Vox said it best that Trump voters don't care about his scandals, but if they found out he wants tax cuts for the rich they'd crucify him.

I think on a lot of these questions people just pick a side. Even if they don't like a scandal they just like trump so they give a positive answer.

So in other words, most of his supporters are spineless or stupid or both.

That is blessedly wishful thinking.

I doubt it is the "scandals" so much as the hysterical outrage over them that makes Trump more liked.

Correct.  Look at the news feeds on NBC News, USA Today and CNN (since I have those apps on my phone).  Just the headlines will cause his supporters to dig their heels in deeper.

This is what Trump fed on during the campaign, of course. Nobody wants the preening left-wing moralism (other than the preening left-wing moralists, of course). The hyperbolic and increasingly frenzied attacks were just making Trump stronger throughout the campaign with a segment of the population that was sick of the nonsense. The worm really turned though when they stopped just attacking Trump and started attacking anyone who liked him as stupid and/or brainwashed. Wink

This (clap) is (clap) because (clap) they (clap) are (clap) stupid (clap clap).

We're allowed to say this again?

About time.

I mean, sure.  It's just funny that you don't think there were millions of dumbasses who voted for Hillary.

I used to pity these people (being surrounded by so many of them), but they're just as someone else just said: a cult. Lump them in the same category as the Mansons and the Westboro Baptist Church f***tards.

So then was Hillary correct in describing some of them as "deplorable" ?

Hillary was no prize, but yes. Voting for the man who is now playing a reality TV version of the President as a cartoon villain, in spite of all the evidence that he would be exactly that, was deplorable.(That he turns out to be even more idiotic, ignorant and incompetent than expected does nto excuse them.)

Yes, the American political system is broken. And no, Hillary Clinton was not a particularly good candidate. That is no excuse for Trump. Even those who don't like his policies and are voting for him as an agent of chaos are demonstrating gross disregard for their fellow human beings. If someone did not want to vote for Hillary, I can absolutely understand. But there is NO basis for supporting Trump. I don't care what someone's personal politics are, anyone voting Trump in the belief that he would advance their interests is wrong. (Psychopathic billionaires exempted.)

In regards to the actual poll here, I think it's partially a result of more and more Trump voters simply unwilling to admit they voted for him in these polls, so anyone who opposes him is saying they didn't vote for him, leaving only the current supporters admitting they did--which in turn increases his approval among the admitted voters in these polls.

Scandals almost never affect the party's base, it's the people in the middle that they turn.

If Trump is content just holding on to that 35% approval rating, good for him.
