Christine Gregoire (born March 24, 1947) is the Governor of Washington and has been serving since January 2005. She was elected in November 2004 in a controversial election and had previously served three terms as the Attorney General of Washington. She is a Democrat, a Catholic, and a woman. As Governor, she has supported an increase in the gas tax (In November 2005, voters turned down an initiative that would have gotten rid of it, indicating support for the tax) and a gay rights bill.
