In all seriousness, I knew the race was over when Zogby declared Coakley to be the winner.

Any chance Senator Brown will shift hard left then maybe switch parties a few months down the line? This seat could be his for life if he plays it right.

Someone needs to whisper in his ear.

Good luck to the Senator-elect. Smiley I call his approvals top heavy by November.

I'm not really sad about loosing a Filibuster-proof majority (they'll eventually find someway around it), it's just kinda sad that Teddy gets such a mediocre replacement. Sad

The Democratic majority in Congress is finished -imagine the burst of momentum the GOP is going to have from this going forward...

On the bright side, Obama did come closer than any Democratic president did before him to getting health care reform signed into law -but just fell tantalizingly short, stealing defeat from the jaws of victory.

Sources say Coakley has called to concede.

I read that too. In that case, congratulations to Senator Scott Brown. You deserve it.

If Obama and the top Democrats move more toward the center then 2010 will not be that bad for them, but if they don't well, 2010 will be a very very very very bad cycle for them.

Come on. To suggest that this election is going to cause the GOP to take one or both houses back is ludicrous. It might happen, but unlikely, and we have a long time to go until November.

Hopefully this will be a wake-up call to complacent Democrats.

The Boston Globe's website isn't letting me download the newest data.  This chart is with 64% in and tells everything you need to know about what happened.  Turnout down - way down - in Democrat areas.  Turnout better in more Republican areas.

The Dems arrogance backfired this time.

They brought this on themselves by their atrocious behavior in changing the laws and the rules to suit their own purposes.

This is a glorious day for Massachusetts.

This is a glorious day for the United States of America.

This is a glorious day for democracy.

We are witnessing history.

We are witnessing the end of Kennedy  dominance in Massachusetts politics.

Scott Brown will serve his state and the nation well.
