Who cares? They were busy running for President / VP.

Cheney said that he'd never met Edwards before. That seemed like a pretty stupid statement to say.

You're ignoring the thrust of his point because his point is true - Kerry and Edwards have not been doing their job.

Cheney said that he'd never met Edwards before. That seemed like a pretty stupid statement to say. Of course Cheney has met Edwards. Edwards and Kerry have been very active for most of their Senate career, and have still made a lot of the important votes even when they were busy running for President/Vice President.

You seem to need a little more context to help you understand the larger picture Cheney was painting of Edwards....so here is the full quote:
