Fall 1902

Austria:
        F alb -> tri
          Bounced with ser (1 against 1).
        A bud -> gal
        A ser -> tri
          Bounced with alb (1 against 1).

          No orders received. All units hold.
        A hol Holds
        F lon Holds
        F nth Holds
        F nwy Holds
        A yor Holds

France:
        A bel -> ruh
        A bur Supports A boh -> mun
        F eng -> iri
        A mar -> spa
          Bounced with wes (1 against 1).
        A pic -> bel
       F por -> mao

Germany:
        F bal Supports A den -> swe
        A den -> swe
        A kie -> hol
          Bounced with hol (1 against 1).
        A sil -> mun
          Failed (1 against 2).

Italy:
        A tus -> pie
        F tys -> lyo
        A ven Supports A tus -> pie
        F wes -> spa/sc
          Bounced with mar (1 against 1).

Russia:
        A boh -> mun

        F bla Supports A arm -> sev
        A bul Supports A rum
        A con Holds
        A rum Supports A arm -> sev

The position after the moves is as follows. Germany has an army in swe and the Russian fleet is dislodged.

The retreat order for F swe does not affect the number of Winter 1902 adjustments for any power other than Russia. F swe may retreat to ska, bot, fin, or it may disband. If it disbands then there are no other adjustments for Russia. If swe retreats then one other unit must disband.

The only other power that has an adjustment is Austria which may build one unit. Austria may pm me with that build order or wait for the Russian F swe retreat/disband decision. Winter orders from Russia and Austria will be processed as soon as they are received, but no later than 11:59 pm CST on Sun Nov 4.

Russia disbanded swe and Austria built an army in tri. The position after the Winter 1902 adjustments is this.

Orders for Spring 1903 are due by 11:59 pm CST on Fri Nov 9.

England remains available for a player who wants to take it on. While England remains in civil disorder with no player all units will be ordered to hold. However other players may still support those units to hold as if England was actively played.

My plan at this point was to have a an extra week for the move that otherwise would land on the day after Thanksgiving. The holiday is busy for most, and I'll be traveling, too. If the existing players wanted an extension to try to recruit new players, then it would require a postponement until Nov 30 for the next move.

I haven't seen any new players interested, nor a consensus to delay the game, so moves for Fall 1903 are still due tonight. As before, if any of that changes by tonight, you will know here in the thread.

Italy retreats spa/sc -> wes. That makes this the position for Fall 1905 moves.

As I noted above, due to my travel schedule moves for Fall 1905 are due Thu Dec 20 by 11:59 pm CST. Retreats and adjustments will take place as soon as possible over the weekend.

Due to the holidays there will be no move due on Fri Dec 28. The Spring 1906 move is scheduled for Jan 4, 2019.

Spring 1906

Turkey: Supply centers were gained. Units that may be built: 3 (only 2 unoccupied centers are available).

Sorry, our construction yards are on summer holiday.

The international press corps was a bit concerned by the packet ship arriving long after it was expected. The ship claimed it was due to the intense naval traffic in the Mediterranean.  Nonetheless the intrepid reporters ran with the story, unaware that it was merely a transcription of the news from last fall.

Fall 1906
Units are dislodged in mos and swe. Since these units are in powers in civil disorder they are eliminated. Russia has no home supply centers and is eliminated from the game. Italy has no home supply centers and is eliminated from the game. Austria and England remain in civil disorder. That leaves three active powers: France, Germany and Turkey. A mutual draw requires the consent of those three players during the same turn/phase.

Adjustments are due by pm by Sun Jan 13 at 11:59 pm

Based on the acceptance by France and Germany of Turkey's offer of a draw I declare the game a mutual draw between those three. Austria has submitted no moves for the last two seasons and is in civil disorder and like England does not figure into the draw.

I am open to judging another game if there are at least 7 interested players (I don't want to start with less than a full game). If there are more than 7, then players would be selected by lot with extra players given first right to take over an abandoned power.

Looking ahead to a potential next game, one question is the degree to which written orders are strictly followed according the rules. This is what the 5th Ed rules state.

As we saw a couple of times, players, especially if new or rusty, write "illegal" orders. Once a game starts I don't like changing the rules, but I can start with house rules within reason. For example, I could pre-judge any orders submitted sufficiently in advance of the deadline (3 or 6 hours?) and ask the player to review and revise any illegal orders as necessary. Perhaps that would make it easier for new players to begin.

GeorgiaModerate is right, you really need 7 committed players for the first few turns or the game becomes unbalanced. I would note that for this thread there were initially 10 players who professed interest but only 7 available to start the game and then some early drop outs. It helps to have a couple of spare players who didn't get in, but can take over when a player gets to busy IRL and has to abandon the position.

There is a new issue that has arisen. The copyright issue has resulted in the closure of the Atlas Gallery, which is where I posted game maps. There have been even more restrictions required by Dave as he resolves the effects of the lawsuit. I'd like to see where image posting lands so that the game would have a clear location for the players to view the board with each turn.

If I can resolve this, I'd be happy to Judge another game.
