Just saw Bladerunner 2049. Very impressed.
Me too. It really lived up to its name when I saw it categorized as neo-noir. I love futuristic dystopian movies like that. It was just a bit long, although that wouldn't have been a big problem if I wasn't sleep-deprived.
I had to go to the bathroom the entire time I was in the theater.
I have mixed feelings on the original, as my instincts are to loyally stand by the original product, but it never really captured me. That said, I knew I would be seeing the sequel. The score was very reminiscent of
Insterstellar, which makes sense, since Hans Zimmer was responsible for both. That said, it still fit very well, and I enjoyed both films for a lot of the same reasons--despair cloaked in grandeur, the terror of the future, existential questions. I've been meaning to meet up with my film prof from last year, and this will likely make good conversation fodder.
