So, this is the next to last duel, and incidentally the only right-wing matchup (Fab would disargree Grin). I really hope the Moderates will win, because it would be humiliating and unfair to let them with 4 defeats... Sad I'm not very hopeful though.

But since I've so many votes...

So, people, here is the final round ! Smiley It's a nice coincidence that the final round opposes DNA and Greens, the two frontrunners (no, it wasn't intended). Wink Anyways, the winner of this round will most likely be the winner of the survivor : I forgot to specify, but the tiebreaking criterion in the case of a tie is the winner of the duel opposing the two parties, counted as if each person had one vote. So, barring a surprise, this round will be decisive ! Cheesy

Choose wisely, people, and let's conclude this long contest.

9 to Det Norske Arbeiderparti !

SPO was the clear winner here, but it didn't happen for some reason. The Moderates obviously didn't have a chance. I could have even lived with the D66 winning which would have been sort of boring too, but an acceptable pain.

But if there is something worse than the disastrous Greens winning this then that is the Norwegian "like watching paint dry" Labour party.
But you guys hilariously made those 2 the finalists of the survivor Tongue

It was a fun and epic survivor though and i want to thank Antonio for creating it and managing it Wink Cheesy
It's a pity the worst ones of the final 5 are the ones in the deciding match. It's a terrible choice but right now I prefer these over the boring labour (The Labour party also reached the Top 5 in the socialist international parties survivor where it had no business there, eliminating the Socialist party of Argentina which finished 6th, so I also have a feud with them because of that Grin) So in the end this would be a cointoss, but the Labour Party is just a little bit more annoying for me.

9 for Alliance '90/The Greens (Germany)

WOT ?!? You're an awful traitor, Edu Tongue ...

9 DNA

Come on, vote for History, vote for social-democracy, not for lil' young politicians trying to mimic "grand old parties"...

Oh, but, wait, DNA can't win, now...

Sad

And then, as it was obvious from the beginning, a youngish, post-modern, "in" party is winning...
I really hoped, in this final stage, that we'd favour a real political party...
Sad
I'm very sad.

Forever.

If I discover I have some cousin living in Argentina, who is involved in some kind of typically Italian activities, I'll ask him to do a litlle job for me. Be careful when you cross the road...

Lol, I expected the responses Tongue
But when the SPÖ tied the D66 and the DNA killed it then I got pissed, didn't really care that much about this final.

It's worth noting that the vote was 32-10 in favor of the greens before I voted. even if Fab and me voted 9 for the DNA and then Ben and HC voted 5 each for the DNA the vote would be 38-32 in favor of the DNA and then Julio would have given 7 to the greens and the greens still win 39-38 and i'm not even sure Ben would have voted for the DNA.

And Antonio, I could be saying the same thing as you but with a cousin in Italy considering you helped the greens to win against the SPÖ in the first round and then gave 9 points to make them tie against D66 Grin

Of course then there was the pile on againt the SPÖ in favor of the DNA Tongue

Anyway, don't we have some kind of tiebreaking round? I mean, both parties will have 6 points and I'm not so sure if I would vote for the Greens again in a tiebreak.

Come on, vote for History...
I really hoped, in this final stage, that we'd favour a real political party...

That was the SPÖ Tongue Pity people voted against it.

Yay, this is very "Italian" in a way Grin.

(Antonio has already explained his awful rule for tiebreaking, Edu... the winner of this round will also win the tie... Tongue
Oh, Antonio, if you wish, you can delete your post and, as moderator here, I'll certify that you haven't posted this message. Ever. Wink)

Yeah, maybe I should have picked SPÖ rather than DNA... but DNA was to compensate for Labour, which I knew wouldn't have any chance to win.
DNA was my favourite nr.1 from the beginning, as Antonio can testify when I PMed him my list when I was on holiday and he voted for me.

Of course, when I see the results, I can guess SPÖ had a decent shot... Sad

Aha, I just read the first part of his post where he says "Anyways, the winner of this round will most likely be the winner of the survivor" and I assumed that he meant that if Grune won the round then they would probably win an extra round also.
Of course i missed the second part of his post Tongue

On the other hand, doesn't that mean that DNA could still win? as i understand it, if the Greens win then Antonio will count each person that voted as a single point and since we are 11 that should give us a winner.

Grune is currently winning 5-3, which means that if Julio, HC and Ben all vote for the DNA then althought it will lose the round, the individual votes would be 6-5 in favor of the DNA.

OMG, you're right, I've miscounted (again) !

Julio, you're a real leftist, you can't vote for a greenish movement.

Ben, you've always tried to beat Die Grünen in this survivor; here, you've got another good and interesting moderate leftist solution to beat Die Grünen.

homely, I've voted for you in the Atlasian Senate, betraying my party for the first time ever (yes !): you owe me a vote for the DNA Grin

Well....
What else can I do ? Grin

Absolutely entertaining! I hope there is another political party survivor started once this one ends, Eastern European parties anyone? Wink

And I would like to thank Antonio for starting and running this survivor. Excellent job!

OMG, you're right, I've miscounted (again) !
What else can I do ? Grin

You see? It's not all bad for you, unlike me with the SPÖ humiliated Sad

I'm going to try an alternate history exercise.

This is what SHOULD have happened if people were sane Grin Tongue

- SPÖ 31 - Grüne 35 (well, yeah, this could have been different but we'll let it stand)
- D66 18 - DNA 25 (Ok result, it stays the same)
- M 11 - SPÖ 25 (Great!, Stays the same)
- Grüne 30 - D66 31 (Fine, we keep it)
- DNA 12 - M 7 (A lackluster round but the result was decent i guess, so it stays)

So far, things are pretty much the same, maybe some of the results could have been different but I'm fine with them staying like that.

The rankings so far are:
DNA = 4 points
SPÖ = 2 points
Grüne = 2 points
D66 = 2 points
Moderates = 0

Now here is where the story changes, in real life the Austrians tied with D66 (Thanks Antonio Grin) and we know what happened afterwards.

What should have happened is the SPÖ winning giving them 4 points total

Then Grüne beats the Moderates, i don't see that result changing in any way.

So after Duel 7 the rankings would have been like this:
DNA = 4 points
SPÖ = 4 points
Grüne = 4 points
D66 = 2 points
Moderates = 0

Now we also have here another point of divergence because we have the terribly important DNA-SPÖ match.
If the DNA wins then looking at the following results my prediction by logic would be that at the end of 9 duels DNA would have 6 points and the Greens would have 4, which means exactly the same thing that happened in real life. That's no good.

What SHOULD have happened here is the SPÖ beating the DNA

Then obviously the match between the Moderates and the D66 wouldn't matter because they would both be out in the cold.

So after 9 duels the rankings would have been this:
SPÖ = 6 points
DNA = 4 points
Grüne = 4 points.

So the SPÖ would have already qualified for the final and the match between the DNA and Grüne would define the other finalist.

In this instance I would have definitely supported the DNA to beat the Greens and with some luck the DNA would also reach 6 points.

I guess that in that case the tiebreak would have been, everybody has 1 vote and we decide between the SPÖ and the DNA
This final match would have been interesting because I have no idea what would happen. And best of all, for the purists, it would have been a match between 2 "real" parties. So, everyone wins.

This is what i wished would have happened, but you guys were too busy trying to make the DNA the survivor that you completely ignored who could be the other finalist, and so we get this crap Tongue

And yeah, I have too much time in my hands considering I'm on holidays right now Grin
