Right...and you live in France and identify as French. Tongue  I'm American and follow this stuff but I wouldn't say "we."

so I consider myself as a full italian citizen.

Yeah, when elections roll around. Tongue

For the record, I've always been vocally supportive of dual citizenship so don't think that I'm taking a shot at that.

Is dual citizenship illegal for US citizens ? If it is, that's a shame.

No, it's not. I wasn't implying that it is.
[/quote]

So do you have Italian citizenship too ?

No, I'm 100% Italian by heritage and visit basically every other year but I wouldn't get dual citizenship unless I actually lived there.

Too bad... As for me, I have lived in Turin for 4 years, so I guess this plus my parents having Italian citizenship was enough.

Who will actually lead the PdL in the next election? I assume that Berlusconi, the rapist of child prostitutes is out of the picture - or is he?

Alfano, barring a surprise.

Who is next in line if Alfano fails (which, at this point, seems likely)? Is Gasparri in line or how about some younger leaders?

Didn't know about it. After the mess in the Lega, I hope I'll enjoy the mess inside PdL... Grin

It should be a challenge for the PdL since that party was created as nothing but a personality cult around Silvio "serial child rapist" Berlusconi.

How does a personality cult survive the demise of its central personality?...esp. if any of the putative successor appear cut from the cloth of those grim, grey, faceless Christian Democratic leaders of the past - (though Giulio Andreotti apparently murdered a few people as well so i guess he wasn't as "dull" as he looked)

Andreotti was never exactly dull; a genuinely funny guy, if nothing else.

The idea that the PdL would collapse after Berlusconi is nothing new. Maybe the next elections will kill it. The question, which I asked before, is what replaces it? I hope FLI would rise but I'd guess that a new and weaker center-right party would form.

The national polls coming out in this period are obviously gonna have M5S overperform by quite a bit.

Anyway,it's clear that for the next elections it won't be the typical center-left vs center-right...

Is the M5S even right, left, centrist, or even vagueishly leaning one way, or is it just "we hate all politicians, end of story?"

Definitely the latter.

But leans more to the left, as far as I know.

Blah,not anymore.
Most of its actual voters are former PdL-Lega Nord voters.

It's still horrible. This is going to end up below 40%, it's a defeat for politics as a whole.

That share would give them lot of seats in EP. Which group would they join.

The European Federation of Idiots, Retards, Tools, Crazies, Demagogues, and Buffoons, certainly.

In Parma it's holding up better than the rest of the country. I suppose M5S can make it if PdL voters are really going out to vote.

After the first day of voting

Parma -4.41 points (compared to same hour of 2 weeks ago)
Lucca -7.06
Belluno -7.37
Rieti -9.95
Piacenza -10.43
Isernia -10.55
Frosinone -10.78
L'Aquila -11.36
Asti -11.79
Monza -11.94
Genova -13.63
Taranto -13.91
Cuneo -14.9
Como -15.22
Agrigento -16.28
Alessandria -16.45
Palermo -18.34
Trapani -20.27

It won't end up below 40%,it's 37% now and there is 8 hours of voting tomorrow.
But it's definitely a low turnout.

Bad news that,of all places,Parma is the one with the higher turnout...
Only good thing would be that, after seeing how M5S cannot manage even a medium city, they would lose most (?) credibility.

C'mon, I don't think M5S will pull a win in Parma. I can't get myself to believe enough right-wing voters could seriously vote for a grillist.

Polls don't agree actually, but most of them point out that most of M5S voters are leftist, while about half of righist didn't vote at election or wouldn't vote in general elections.
Obviuously eventually in general election most of present not-voters will vote, and turnout will be significantly higher.
